pat harper was a class act who won multiplle emmy awards for nbc, she was shabbily treated when nbc did not renew her contract, she retired to marabella spain and died 6 months later. i believe the shock of not working gave her a heart attack.

Odd seeing Pat Harper on with Chuck Scarborough. I remembered her on Channel 11 WPIX for YEARS!!!!!!!!! I left the area in the late 80s and don't remember seeing her on this chnnel.

She usually anchored with him at 6 P.M. from 1985 to her retirement in 1991. That night, his usual 11 P.M. co-anchor Sue Simmons was off, so here we are.

Weird to have WNBC still with the 1979 Proud N motif on a lot of the News 4 New York graphics, while NBC itself changed to the 6-feathered bird we know them for today.

Ha, I was 7. I didn't know we lost Pat Harper- shit. I used to sit up with my Dad and watch the news with him when he got home from work- this video brought back memories. The ads!

I wonder - was Pat filming her week on the streets as a homeless bag lady at the time Liberace died, and if so, who was sitting in with Chuck on the 6 P.M. edition when it happened? In any event, another TV anchor who is sorely missed, especially today.
