I was 12 back in '79, and living in North Jersey. It's funny how watching this brings back a flood of memories. Thanks for posting!

2:29 - P.J. Soles is the young blonde woman in the Era detergent ad. 6:52 - The umpire in the ad for Entex handheld video games is Johnny Haymer. 8:45 - Phil Rizzuto for The Money Store. 14:17 - Promo for the syndicated series The Life and Times of Eddie Roberts, starring Renny Temple in the title role and Udana Power as his wife. Temple was in so many TV commercials during the '70s and '80s that to list them all might take an entire KZbin video by itself. 18:22 - Lou Rawls does the voiceover on the PSA for blood pressure education. 29:19 - Yul Brynner in the "Don't Dump on New York" PSA.

2:15 - The "preceding program" notice was V/O'd by Barbara Korsen - who was at the station earlier in the decade (at the time of this taping, she was splitting her time as a per diem announcer at ABC network and WABC-TV local, and handling "vacation relief" announcing for WOR-TV) - but, evidently by this aircheck (especially on the "L.A.T.E.R." promo), she was still filling in at WNEW from time to time. Busy lady, apparently. One minute her voice is heard on 5, the next on 7, and after that on 9. Wonder if she did the sign-off news and sign-off itself this night.

Superb! Hoping you have more WNEW! This is the first time I’ve heard a female booth announcer on 5. This sounds like Barbara Korsen, who I think also picked up shifts on Channel 9 before settling in for a long stretch at ABC. Was interesting to see the technical problems with her live read over the promo for the show L.A.T.E.R. Again, great find!

It was. She was there in the early to mid-'70's. As of 1979, she was, for the most part, actually split between WOR (where she worked as "vacation relief") and ABC network/WABC-TV local (wonder if/when a sign-off with her voice at WABC will turn up). But I play this (especially the "L.A.T.E.R." promo), and see she was still filling in at WNEW too? Wow, very busy gal. Did she sign off the station that night? That would've been something to hear - a voice other than Ed Ladd (who did every other promo on this clip) or Tom Gregory. (Let alone Chuck Caron.)
