Great work! One note, I wouldn't recommend red locktite in this application. Maybe blue. Red is very permanent, and therefore I find very few times that it's really the right answer. You were so careful not to damage the plastic plugs, but if you ever want to re-insert them, you'll need to get that locktite to break first!
@frankmthompson2 жыл бұрын
My thought as well. I accidentally used some red on some outdoor metal and wood slat chairs I refinished..when I went to refinish the wood again...well...the bolts were stuck..LOL I had to refinish them in place. Learned my lesson then.

@@pazz2518 Acetone *can* damage clear coat and paint if it's left on and allowed to dry/absorb into it. The fact that he uses a small amount and doesn't just leave a puddle of it there to dry, means it shouldn't be a problem though. That said, it's still a good idea to use something like distilled vinegar, or a product like Goo Gone or Goof Off, instead of acetone.

OooO Benny I dont recommend use acetone, it has stripping capabilities and older paint wont handle it like your newer one. and you got to be quick with getting it on then properly wiping it off. Use eucalyptus or tea tree oil!! Its the best for glues on paint. Otherwise iso alcohol works ok. All 3 better than acetone.

as overkill is my go to......I would have added silicone to the bolt entry of the track. Hope it doesn't leak.

I'm not sure the average DIY can person has 10% your crafting/making skill. Part of it, is looking at the problem and breaking down the best way to do something, grabbing the heat gun is a perfect example of this

Please explain, I’d like to know why
@bs8382 жыл бұрын
@@WobyDesign acetone dissolves paint but typically only if you leave it in contact for a prolonged time. still, some isopropyl alcohol would be a safer choice.
@TomsTimmervan2 жыл бұрын
yes, be very careful with Acetone, it is a solvent for most paints and clearcoats. In fact nail polish is similar to paints and acetone is used for that as well
@j.a.therollingman92162 жыл бұрын
Acetone takes off your clear coat right away. It is very strong. IPA is much safer choice.
