I first heard the original version in which Lataji sang. I felt it was great. Then I saw this video listed and wondered why anyone else should even attempt to sing this song. Yet, I clicked and heard Priyanka Mitra's rendition. I do not know the nuances of music but the singing and accompaniment on keyboard and tabala are captivating and ecstatic, individually and collectively. This was amply demonstrated by burst of vigorous appreciation by one of the gentlemen in the audience. Now, I prefer to listen to this version more often. I venture to say this based on Deepak Kumar's comments in the original video. Hats off to the entire team. Excellence is not absolute.
