There must be hundreds of these episodes lol and to think we haven’t had a way of watching all of them until now, wokking Wednesday is going to be one of the highlights of my life for a while I think… All of Martin Yan’s episodes were uploaded like 2 or so years back and now we’re getting all of Stephen Yan’s episodes… I’m so excited!!!! Me and my grandparents used to watch reruns of this show so much… This is so wonderful to see. I was literally wondering 2 years ago “what if someone some day uploads the ENTIRETY of Wok with Yan even though it was previously mostly lost… What if some utter madlad had saved or acquired every single episode by some means”… And now it’s ACTUALLY happening. I cannot wait. Gonna have to get his cookbooks on eBay now 😂 a sincere thank you for preserving this beloved piece of Canadian history Edit: I believe (not counting the pilot episode that was uploaded on here) that there may be episodes of wok with Yan predating this one by 2 years. From what I read he started doing episodes in 1978 but they were on BCTV only in BC. The show in it’s first 2 years was originally called “Yan’s wokking” but it would seem no footage survives from this era of the show’s history. The fact that we may be getting everything from 1980-1995 is enough of a blessing as it is. But who knows. Maybe one of those very first few early episodes will resurface in some form… lol

I remember I liked watching this after school in the 80s. I tried a recipe from this show as a 14 year old learning to cook. it was bacon wrapped bananas rolled in cornstarch held with a toothpick and deep fried. I remember my parents laughing as they tried to eat it, but my dad said I just can’t 😂 He definitely gave something different to challenge our Canadian taste buds.

This video brings back so much memories of my younger years. The footage of 1980's Hong Kong reminds me of my childhood, when Hong Kong seemed to be such an exotic, far away land that I would never be able to visit. I used to read booklets published by the HK tourism board of that era, brought to me by my wealthier relatives, thinking how cool it would be to visit the country. I finally managed to visit Hong Kong in the late 90s, although things are no longer the same (or at least not like what I had always imagined). I also fondly remember the TV show, distinctly remembering that some episodes were banned in my country probably because the protein was pork. Eventually, either the station ran out of pork-free episodes or the whole show got banned. 😂

@ lol. Oh crap it got so bad the last few years. I’m 2017 there were two shootings, a stabbing, some guy from India ran his cousin over with his truck in a fit of rage and a possible homicide because some lady was running down the street naked covered in blood screaming for the cops. And that was just on my street. We also had a drive by that killed a teenager in January of 2020 just after we moved out of Brampton. My wife and moved to Halifax last year to get out of Ontario. It has gotten so bad it’s not funny anymore.
@colinleat830911 күн бұрын
@kevinW826 WOW! For real! I have a buddy here in Montreal who was telling me he has friends there and it's gotten that bad. I didn't want to believe it, but it's like that in northern Mississauga as well. What the hell has happened to Ontario in the past 20 years? Unbelievable. I'm glad you and your wife are in the Maritimes. I'm actually thinking of just getting out of Dodge and moving to New Zealand. The rest of the world still had this false impression that " On Canada, you can sleep with your doors unlocked '. Maybe once upon a time, but even here, it's getting crazy. Best regards to you and your family my fellow Canuck, I hope you feel safe and thrive. 🖖🙂🤘🇨🇦🕊️
