It is obvious now that "universities for all" have watered down the credibility of traditional universities. They are more or less no more than expensive polytechnics. These places are also taking over our society, not only that but the ongoing building of multiple student accommodation blocks and huge car parks and other unnecessary supersized facilities for tens and thousands of students. The general public is also made to foot the bill. Overall, it really doesn't make sense in all honesty. For the majority of students, it is a waste of time and expense and furthermore, it is delaying other important missions in their lives. The current cult and their glib indignation is tedious to the extreme. Cancel culture is in desperate need of cancellation. I cant understand people being so adverse to knowledge, especially those who are students. The world is in dire straights indeed. I see a whole generation of people coming up who are crying out to be enslaved and insist on being ignorant to their self imposed bonds. Could that be the point? why wasn't the opposition speaking,? a one sided report no different from what they claim the other side does. the idea that the women are not having children because of high achievers nt having children is complete nonsense. as if all women are high achievers. the assumption that a falling birthrate is bad is also dubious, she ought to do a private screening for the heads of student societies and let them decide.

Declining birth rates? Maybe in some more advanced countries, but not the rest of the world. World's population has been increasing pretty much non-stop, bar the odd period of disease etc, for the past millennia and has accelerated over the past century and a half. In fact, World's population has doubled from 4 billion to 8 billion in just the past forty years alone and is increasing by the year. Africa's population alone is projected to more than double from 1.4 billion now to over 3 billion by 2050.
@notsurewhattobelieve2990 Жыл бұрын
Elon Musk said the world population is shrinking and its very worrying. Obviously some countries are shrinking quicker
@lightweightben Жыл бұрын
The population is mainly growing due to people living longer, not due to higher birth rates. It’s going to plateau and decline that’s baked in the cake. Peak child was 2013 so we’ve already passed the largest number of children alive and it’s now a declining number. The incredible thing is how fast it is happening, most countries have or will soon have lower birth rates than replacement rates, the only exceptions appear to be African countries but they will not be far behind as it is a global trend. This documentary and Hans Rosling’s work explain this in a lot of detail. A growing population has been hugely beneficial for human prosperity and a shrinking one is something that is likely to be extremely difficult to cope with. Pensioners nappies already outsell babies nappies, and the trends are this is only going to get worse.
@boofuu3145 Жыл бұрын
