Huh. I just realised that the Jesus in the screen isn't actually crucified. he's hanging there by his elbows. Never noticed that before.

Why would they need to put nails ? its not like he can just untie himself . Also if you read about the crucifixes of Jesus , it explains that the translation describes him hanging from his lower arms rather than hands. This means that either the nails were inserted into his elbows which is somewhat unlikely considering the elbow joint's bone structure or between the radius and ulna which would likely kill him from bleeding so the more likely option is to tie him by the elbows. This also goes a long with the more accurate description of Jesus as a man of Mediterranean ancestry , AKA non-white, which is something that many Christians are in denial about.

@Rob M its same universe, the point is that many ignorant people refuse to recognize that Jesus was a non-white Jew living in old Judea that was a client-state of ancient Rome. So they go and make shit up about how he was some kind of white english-speaking guy that died for their sins when in reality the romans killed him because he was gaining too much political power that they wanted for their own.(They took the religion he made and adapted it into Christianity that serves them while scapegoating his murder on the rest of the Jews to wash their hands of that hypocrisy )

@@phantomapprentice6749 I very seriously doubt "many Christians" are in denial about Jesus being non-white. Racialized depictions of Christ aren't unique to Anglos either. It's just what humans do. "The Coptic Church of Egypt separated in the 5th century, and has a distinctive depiction of Jesus, consistent with Coptic art. The Ethiopian Church, also Coptic, developed on Coptic traditions, but shows Jesus and all Biblical figures with the Ethiopian appearance of its members. Other traditions in Asia and elsewhere also show the race of Jesus as that of the local population (see Chinese picture in the gallery below). In modern times such variation has become more common, but images following the traditional depiction in both physical appearance and clothing are still dominant, perhaps surprisingly so. In Europe, local ethnic tendencies in depictions of Jesus can be seen, for example in Spanish, German, or Early Netherlandish painting, but almost always surrounding figures are still more strongly characterised."

It’s fuzzy and weird because the variables haven’t been solved yet in the series. So if there is a universe in which Jesus was tied by his elbows instead of nailed by his palms it’s a universe available for view. This scene is only one variable outcome to one variable cause. You didn’t immediately notice the difference on first viewing because you live in your own reality which is at least 4 times removed from what you’re watching.
