I have a genetic condition that could in the case of an acute attack be life-threatening. The A&E department at our main city hospital is so frightening now with its population of homeless and immigrants that I have to be very ill indeed before I go there. That does not even touch on the wait time.

During the election the news was telling us every day that immigration was by far the public's number one concern. All it takes is a change of policy like Australia whereby every person who enters the country by illegal means will not be able to claim asylum. They won't bother coming, they'll look for the second best country in Europe they can exploit, Germany or whatever their research shows. We can also use our Navy to patrol in small boats to turn any illegals around. So many ways to stop it but they want the immigration for a number of reasons. They are young and will all vote for labour. They will provide cheap labour. Starmer is hiding a secret plan he has with the muslim council, I don't know what is going on but it's as if someone has shown him how he can remain in power for the rest of his life and he's ignoring the population of the UK to achieve this. It seems so weird to pretend we can't do anything to solve this problem when clearly lots of options are open to us.

I left the UK to live in SW France about 16 years ago. It’s not perfect here but I look at the UK with horror. I live in a large water mill with pool and over 1 acre of land, I pay 520 euros in council tax. A decent bottle of wine, 4 euros. I feel safe going out at night. I would say the only thing more expensive is food. Love watching this show, Mike Graham, my hero.

The Ox-Camb line has been there for years, & I travelled it in February1965, a mere 60 years ago (!). BR let it moulder away, except for one section near Bedford, & the Tories resurrected it so that we now have a modern line, almost ready to go, between Oxford & Milton Keynes, with the upgrade to Bedford coming along. With huge irony, given that Reeves is on about the corridor of about 80 miles between the University cities being the UK's 'Silicon Valley' is that part of the old trackbed between Sandy & Cambridge is occupied by a space observatory belonging to Cambridge Uni. With enormous foresight, the big reorganisation of railways in the 1960s, which amounted to "Railways? - we don't need them" allowed the destruction of infrastructure & the sale of railway land so that we now also have houses & other buildings in the way that prevent reinstatement of old lines. That is why the link to Cambridge is going to cost zillions as they try to find a new route. Meanwhile, this government hopes that the line will attract futuristic industries & with them loads of jobs to an essentially rural area, when their policies are aimed at the strangulation of entrepreneurship. We live in puzzling times.
