Get reported for it by me to the teacher and the teacher did nothing and the substitute didn’t get any repercussions until I took it to the principal themself. That teacher (the actual teacher not the substitute) also failed to teach my class an entire third of every single subject. That was a horrible year.

When I was in middle school a teacher, small 5 foot 5 woman in her 20s, had a kid who had been held back multiple years and was over 6 feet and 200 pounds and somewhere around 16 or 17. He wouldn’t behave and teacher told him to speak to her after class. We all left and he stayed in room, locked door and assaulted her physically and the other way. Kid left and ran away from school and got caught by police. Since then that teacher got around 4-5 male students who volunteered to always be in the room anytime she had to discipline someone. That was in the early 2000s, can’t imagine how bad it is now.

Hell, she is not fond of our state (Texas) having banned it, but even she says that we are still not devoid of choices. Birth control, even without insurance is at best $10, and at worst, $150. Which is not really bad compared to most uninsured meds on the market. You even have OTC birth controls which is on average $340 per year, which is about $28.40 per month. It may sound a lot, but that is still far cheaper to take that route as opposed to spending $2K on the surgical procedure or $800 on the abortion pill. And with how refined birth control is these days, complications are really hard to come by, so the benefit outweighs the risk medically, and financially.

The teachers getting assualted by students is a real thing. Have a family member that was forced to retire after being assaulted due to medical issues after the attack. The following issue to this assualt was that the school did not want to cover the medical and had to be taken to court in order to cover the medical and they dragged it out for over a year before they were able to get the first treament.

I knew a teachers assistant when I first got out of high school who got attacked while in the classroom, the student had issues at home and mentally, and decided that he wanted to take it out on other people tried stabbing another student with a pen and when the assistant went to break up the fight she got elbowed in the eye then kicked when she was on the ground before other students and teachers could restrain the student. She had a broken eye socket and a cracked rib and gave up teaching after that. School tried to convince her to not press charges so she threatened with a lawsuit

not to be all "phones bad", but i do genuinely believe that at least part of the problem is that parents today are just shoving an ipad in front of their kids instead of actually parenting them, or even giving them anything else to do. And i do mean specifically like social media, scrolling tik tok and whatnot. when i was a kid and was bored i would play zelda or pokemon on my ds or play with some toys i had. I remember specifically playing pretend with this one thing that was basically magnets in stick and ball form so you could make whole shapes out of them, i played with those SO MUCH, making up like little stories and characters. i don't think kids today even get to think of that, because whenever they tell their parents they're bored, they just get a screen to play with, and it may actually, genuinely, be just dogshit terrible for their brains. I also remember going on the computer when i was a kid, but the difference between back then and today is that my first monitor was pretty much just a small CRT TV and my main activity was playing browser games and youtube had only just started being a website at all. The internet from back then literally doesn't exist anymore, which is also a huge difference. Like, i get where the parents are coming from, in a way, because it's much easier to just stick your kid in front of a screen to make them silent, but i am fucking begging parents to also just let their kids be a little bored sometimes. it's good for the brain, i think. And christ almighty, buy them some toys, be it dolls, action figures, stuffed animals, whatever! Just give them something PHYSICAL to play with!

When I was 20 I asked the doctor to tie my tubes (I never wanted kids back then) and he said " You are too young". I left the doctors mad like I'm not a child and I know what I want..... Boy was I so, so wrong. Fast forward 10 years and I have two beautiful girls I can't imagine my life without, who I love more then life... who make my life worth it. This is another HUGE reason I am also so against this surgery for kids or stunting anything that can stop them from having kids of their own.

Back in 2016, there were swaths of security retiring or finding other jobs because high school kids were not allowed to be disciplined or they might get written up, and back in 2022, elementary school teachers would tell me their 2nd graders were talking about sex and porn. Teach in school? Been teaching 13 years now. I now teach half the content at only a quarter of the rigor that I did in Physics during my first year of teaching. My first year on level kids performed higher than my current AP students perform. I only still teach to use my entire salary to send my son to a private school that actually teaches. Along with being able to stay home during breaks and summer with him. Knowing my son is actually getting an education and not being exposed to troglodytes during his most formative years is worth all the crap I put up with teaching at public school.

I wouldn’t go for a complete ban on abortion but I would start banning policies that only let one side be told. Like how you aren’t allowed to discourage an abortion within 500ft of a clinic - that law should be taken out because it only exists due to the fact that people who are informed are unlikely to choose abortion. At the moment, a person would have to jump through 15 hoops to get properly informed and there are people stopping the information coming out every step of the way.

I work in social services with adults that have mental disabilities and some of them are just barely in their mid 20s and the guardians/parents of some of them will blame every outburst, negative, and physical violent behavior on what we did to cause them to engage in this behavior. There are some parents who will go as far as accuse us completely making stuff up. My sister in law works as a spec ed teacher and she has been so fed up with the job for several years but she is so exhausted dealing with her students that she hardly has time to spend any time with her husband and son let alone try and find a different career path. She is emotionally and physically exhausted and it just keeps getting worse and worse on her. Parents/guardians are absolutely insufferable and many times admin doesn’t do crap to back up their teachers. They usually side with the parents because they don’t want to cause backlash within the community.
