For me XG is part of Kpop, they live in korea and they function as a kpop group would do, including the music structures, the group dancing and performing, they promote on kpop platforms and the extra content they have as all the kpop groups. So I don't think it is that big of a deal to call it kpop. Plus they uploaded a story today that literally says "240604 Simply K-pop" and it's literally a picture of them

@@naivet I'm half Korean and half Japanese. Lumping all Asians as the same is racist! Recognize the distinction! They have zero Koreans in the group. Hinata is half but born and raised in Japan. None of their official tracks are in Korean. They aren't on a Korean label! Labeling them as K-pop is just plain lazy! But most importantly, their music is hip-hop and R&B! Tell me again, Im being racist!

XG the baddest flyest crew out there today a team of 7 ultra talented aces. Woke Up was the #1 trending video worldwide for the first few days after it released and has pretty much gone viral since. Woke is an absolute banger MV of the year. They never miss. They were actually on the cover of Billboard Magazine a few months ago. Grimes just tweeted out yesterday she is a huge fan of XG she said they are light years ahead. Thx for reacting to XG 🐺

I really liked how they included the vocalists in a full rap track just to prove a point, they can do whatever they want. My favorite thing about XG is that they have the good music and the skills to back it up, their main genres being hip hop and R&B really resonates with me since I grew up listening to 80s to 2000s music Btw, you mentioned how you've been following kpop, I'm curious about what are the groups that you follow or you like. Right now for me XG is my top 2 group (right after Dreamcatcher).

I think people's opinions are different, but J-POP has always been more highly regarded overseas than K-POP. XG is a GP belonging to avex in Japan, and was the top-rated in the world in the United States from 2023 to the first half of 2024.

It's understandable to mixed them with k-pop. I mean they were starting as a girl group similar to k-pop/j-pop groups. They also speak Korean in addition to JP and ENG, and they often featured in k-pop related media.

Coco's commitment wasn't to shave her head for the MV. Her commitment for the group was that she was asked to wait until they shoot this video for her to do it. She's been wanting to do this for years but had obligations being in a young pop group to gradually build an audience first to be less of a shock.

XGALX created their own genre for their group XG it’s called Xpop (so not Kpop or Jpop, because all their songs are in English and the market they are going for is global not just Asia like Kpop, Jpop, …. and all the other groups) and XG is the only group currently in it, though if Simon has his way there will be more groups added later, XG is his first group under his label XGALX

In Korea, the use of Japanese language and TV broadcasting are restricted, so they just call it X-POP. Since it is a Japanese-funded company, it is pure J-POP. XGALX is the name of the Korean office of avex, a Japanese company. XG's activity plans are incorporated into avex's long-term strategy.

@@eecorr In Korea, the use of Japanese language and J-POP are restricted from being broadcast on TV. Because it is a global target, all the songs are English, not Japanese. That's why they call it X-POP In reality, "XGALX" agency under "avex" and its producers are Japanese nationals and all the members are Japanese, so it's completely J-POP.

I do hope you react to more K-Pop. This was cool of you. Breaking stereotypes of Korean Girl Groups: The Seven-member group called Dreamcatcher goes against the 'cutesy' thing. They are 'The Face Of Rock In K-Pop' which puts them on the fringes of being 'K-Pop' in the first place. They get ignored, snubbed and even sabotaged, but they are still here. They debuted in 2017 with a Horror aspect (Chase Me). They are AMAZING, my Ult Group in all of K-Pop and maybe even Music in general. They actually do EVVERYTHING musically except for straight-up Opera or the Metal Screams or Metal Growls. They have covered every other major genre you can name so far. The Four-member group called Mamamoo goes against the 'little-girly' thing, they have been WOMEN since debut. They constantly show others up with their Vocals, they are FUNNY AF when they are together (they literally showed up on stage at an otherwise Black Tie Formal Event wearing Tele-Tubby suits, I am not even joking!), and htey are HARD workers! They basically carried the weight of a Start-Up Company on their backs for YEARS until that company could stand on its own. RBW would not exist without these four awesome ladies BUSKING IN THE STREETS and performing at multiple venues EVERY DAY for YEARS on end. They are each fiercely independent ladies but they went through the fires of hell together so they are great friends who can do anything vocally. The Five-member group called Red Velvet goes against the typical K-Pop Girl Group every time they drop any song. They are THE 'Experimental Music' group and SO under-rated! Leave it to SM Entertainment to not do any sort of proper promotions for their biggest, most solid money-maker... Their Main Vocalist is my Ult K-Pop Idol. She really takes the cake but the vocals are not even why she is my Ult. She is also besties with their Main Dancer, who also CLEARLY deserves WAY more attention than she has had for her abilities. She's also a great vocalist in her own right (probably does not hurt that she is besties with one of THE BEST vocalists on Earth...).

The cost of doing a $250k video in S Korea is equal to a $2.5m video in the States. This video probably costed them less than $200k because they do everything in-house. I. America, everything is contracted to peoe that over inflate their prices.

The reason why XG mainly operates in Korea is probably because copyright laws are more lenient and there are no strict regulations on operation, and the costs of running an office and creating music videos are much cheaper than in Japan.

Sounds like you're describing Blackpink 7 yrs ago and before them 2NE1 when so many groups like Twice and Red Velvet were trying to do what SNSD had been doing. Being a disruptor will always stand out over trend followers...SM and Hybe can learn something from XG, Young Posse, and any group YG puts out. Stay ahead of the curve and be actually creative. Babymonster has the potential to combine 2NE1, Blackpink, and Mamamoo to be able to do any genre and kill it.

THEY'RE NOT KOREAN!-POP! No disrespect to K-pop, but they're all Japanese, Japanese mix, that sing and rap in English and perform western R&B and hip-hop. They describe themselves as a global group, on purpose! I go with X-pop, playing off their name. No offense or hate towards you, as I've written this same comment hundreds of times already. Hey CHILL! Im an Alphaz too and an OG one at that but I wouldnt be too aggressive in the comment section. You can just simply say that XG isnt KPOP without overexaggerating. XG wouldnt even like that for Alphaz behaving wildly. They have coined XPOP to help with the confusion but we fans should know that they will always be associated with both KPOP and JPOP as they are adjacent to those two. But Niziu is Kpop. Do you recognize the difference between two? Niziu belongs to Korean company and their music element mainly Kpop, and they aim kpop idol. They are promoted in many Japanese programs and music shows, but still kpop. On the other hand, XG belongs to Japanese company avex(started the X galaxy project 2017, XGALX is subsidiary of avex) and their music element mainly American hiphop and R＆B. Fake numbers of SNS views and ranking by money and Korean stans from many years ago. So I don't really trust popularity of kpop like insane numbers of view for BTS or blackpink etc. Now Korean government started investigation of kpop companies crime, too late though. I guess that's why Korean staffs of XGALX chose to work for Japanese company as one reason. I'm sorry for long sentence.
