One of the teacher's stories from past student projects was about one group who could not get their game to work if they ever deleted this one tomato. If it was there, worked great, fantastic game. If they dared to remove it, it would completely break. They ended up having to hide it under the map so it would still work. Code is finicky, and a solo dev can only do so much.

Ran into a girl the other day (online) who inserted herself into a serious conversation I was having with a couple of other people about fears of debilitating disabilities (i.e., we're artists and were worried about arthritis, me especially because it's in my family) and proceeded to hijack the conversation, make it about herself, and act like we were attacking her for talking about disabilities 'in a negative light.' When I pointed out that our fears were just as valid as her feelings, she blew up, dismissed us and our feelings (because ours and hers couldn't coexist, apparently), ranting and raving about her life experiences and using dehumanizing language *on herself* in her rant. Basically, this is her sort of game. Also the controversy put Soulash 2 on my radar (much like how it alerted me to Hogwarts Legacy XD) and it ended up on my wishlist because someone compared it to Dwarf Fortress 2 but more accessible for the newbie and since I've been curious about *that* game for a while this appeals to me. :D

Said it before but this game reminded me of the Pokemon peta parody game. The difference is that one was free and the studio behind this actually expected people to pay money. With mechanics like cancel and bully, they didn't make the game with "conversation and debate" in mind. It was a power trip to mercilessly push the things they wanted without having anyone censor them and when it inevitably crashed and burned the usual "you bigots!" battle whimper was heard. I also heard a couple songs the "band" plays in game and they're beyond terrible. The most satisfying part is the studio essentially cancelled themselves.

If those two things suck the game sucks. If one sucks the game may be mediocre at best. People who focus on these things are the weird ones. Like do you not have anything better to do than to complain cause a game centered around reproduction doesn’t include gay people who famously can’t have kids with each other and thus would need other systems like surrogacy or adoption wich would need to be implemented as well and thus blow up the proportion of the game.
