In the interview it seems that Birdy (JingHua) is more serious and A-Han (HaoSen) is more humorous but it was the opposite in the film. Birdy made the film have great comic relief and briefly be less heart-wrenching to watch because his character was so amusing. For example when he followed the housemaster into the inspection and walked behind him unnoticed, when he started to cry for the deceased President and when he went to the church to pray for HaoSen to not be so lonely. It was very memorable when he threatened to not follow his friend any longer as they headed to the end of the island and yet he abruptly turned around and ran after him. Although from a Western culture I find these two actors bring out more sincere and deeper emotion in me than those in the movie Red, White and Royal Blue. The latter represented characters who are so fortunate in life it is harder to feel sorry for them. Of course, that era in Taiwan was so tragic for gay people while in England and the USA it was more accepted during RW&RB. I went through a similar transition in the USA when I was young where finally homosexuality was no longer a crime in 1961 yet even though that happened in my home state a decade before any other, in effect the shame was still great because students were still expelled from my university even though the law had changed.

I felt like Edward Chen (A-Han) really fell in love or maybe somehow has a feeling for Tseng Jing Hua (Birdy), I mean who wouldn't right? I stalked their Instagram and I haven't seen Tseng Jing Hua (Birdy) liked any posts from Edward Chen (A-Han) although he had posts and stories about them. But I saw many posts from Tseng Jing Hua (Birdy) liked by Edward Chen (A-Han). I really feels like Edward truly has feeling for Tseng Jing Hua. I hope they'll star again in another BL but a series and a romantic comedy. Their chemistry is off the roof.

At such a young age, they are such professionals and as the learn more along the way, i’m sure they’re both gonna go far. Personality differs. They are somehow just like the two characters in the movie, one is straightforward and one always pretends. From their body language, you can tell they are so used to all the touches, which is not really common to straight guys.

Sorry to correct a part of Engsub (I think maybe Guo translated directly from the Chinese sub, which is wrong, so the Engsub becomes incorrect.) at 4:10 Haosen says : "I wrote a letter to him at last scene and that one is the longest one ." The hostess misunderstands, so she says, "Which scene?" In fact, "scene" is pronounced very closely to "letter" in Mandarin, and "long" is very similar in Mandarin pronunciation to "worse", so I think that's why there are typos in the Chinese sub. However, this causes confusion, but it is just a small ripple.

I feel like a lot of the non-Mandarin Chinese speaking fans of Engraved are out of the loop about these two. Don't read the below if you're expecting an ideal situation that fans would prefer. When Hua was doing promo for a show last year, a Taiwanese tabloid called Next Apple (think Daily Mail) asked "if he (Hua) and Chen are at odds?" Hua answered that they don't really vibe (different frequencies) with each other and aren't in contact. After Hua's interview was released, Chen was doing promo too and was asked to follow up a response on what Hua said with Next Apple. It was sort of all awkward but he responded professionally. They did bump into each other at a GQ carpet event for Shanghai soon after and they looked cordial but distant with one another. You can find the videos of Next Apple on YT but the GQ event is mostly on Weibo.
