Top notch performance by the entire band. Lots of people focus on the drums (rightly so) and Ellie's vocals (flawless), but let's not forget Theo's bass playing. He always looks like he's having the time of his life.

Who are the two interlopers?
@samuelrowark45193 жыл бұрын
- Bradley Griffiths on acoustic from Bloody Knees (not sure if they're still active. They toured with Wolf Alice in 2015ish). - Izzy Baxter Phillips on backup vocals from Black Honey (think they met at Bands 4 Refugees roughly 2015ish). Still active. - Ryan Malcolm on keys from Superfood (back in the 'b-town' 2014 days of Swim Deep, who Wolf Alice were/are very close to).

I think 'How Can I Make It Ok' would've been more fitting for this kind of audience, though this was good all the same
@3headeddawgdawg3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen about 5 performances of smile and they still haven’t done that song justice.
@husker22chad633 жыл бұрын
@@3headeddawgdawg it’s one of those songs that is tough to do really good live. It’s a great song. It’s just not conducive to really punching out the lyrics and chorus. Something about the first couple verses that is off. Maybe too many words, too many syllables, too few hard consonants……something that I can’t put my finger on. And then the chorus is too light. Totally my opinion here.
@Finjodb3 жыл бұрын
@@husker22chad63 she doesnt deliver the vocals with much feeling. I think a bit distortion on the voice would help

Well, as a musician I can only say... Yes you're right. She's not a great singer, and none of the musicians is really great - in *technical* terms. BUT: That doesn't mean that the music cannot be great nonetheless. You don't have to be a technically great musician to create great music. Think about Lou Reed. This guy could neither sing nor play the guitar, but created some of history's most important (guitar) albums (Velvet Underground & Nico, Transformer, New York etc.). And I'm sure you've heard of a certain "Bob Dylan" - a world star who's neither good at singing nor at guitar playing. You see, it's not always that easy when it comes to "art" in general...
@therepublicofcynica3 жыл бұрын
@@axelk.4273 yep, I get that but in my defence I didn't say the band was poor or the song - although someone did point out to me they stole the riff. Arguably both Reed and Dylan, whilst they couldn't/can't sing that well were/are able to emote into a song. This woman simply can't even do that.
