There are several of these changes in the first 4 seasons. It's what happens when you give really good actors a very good script and they bring out the best version of it. Several scenes like that between Olenna Tyrel and Tywin Lannister. They play off of each other so well you can tell they enjoy having such a great scene partner.

Patreon folks may have already mentioned this, but the thing about "Benjen's blood runs black" wasn't referring to a disease. Black is the color of the Night's Watch. It was just an expression of Benjen's loyalty and dedication to the Watch. Thus, the other Night's Watch guy saying Benjen was "as much my brother as yours." Looking forward to the rest of your reactions!

Ned telling Jamie that his wife arrested Tyrion on his orders was a nice little callback to his conversation with Arya, where he told her that Sansa was basically honor bound to lie for Joffrey, much like he lied to Jamie about commanding Katlynn to seize Tyrion. Regarding Robert’s love for Lynn Stark, another way of looking at it could be that there was always an emptiness inside him, and that over the years he has simply (unconsciously) ascribed that hole to loosing her. Even before the rebellion, when he was a young man being fostered together with Ned by Jon Arryn in the vale, all he wanted to do was “crack skulls and fuck girls,” as he said to Ned in the first episode. I would say that his rage at losing Lyanna was possibly more about ego and wounded pride than actual love. Also, as some have pointed out, he really loves Ned, and marrying the sister who (by most accounts) looks a LOT like her brother, probably made him feel closer to Ned.

There is a lot of foreshadowing that goes on in this show if you pay close attention. In the previous episode, Ned's main guard was talking to Jaime about being in a battle together many years ago and that Jaime saved him from losing his eye and his life in that battle. Now Jaime has not only killed this man, but also stabbed him in the eye.
@nickrubin73125 ай бұрын
Not much a foreshadowing, but Jaime exploiting a weakness in Jory's tecnhique as much more experienced duelists/swordsman. Also idk how it was a cheap shot. I'm not a HEMA nerd (saying that with all the love, HEMA nerds are great), but carrying a dagger is pretty reasonable for close quarters or just a side weapon, if sword isn't a side weapon itself, which it usually was. Using a dagger at close distance after parry was a brilliant move.

The different styles of parenting - and the results thereof - is a constant theme throughout this series, mostly with mothers but also with fathers. Interesting topic. And very few reactors I've seen spare a thought for Jory Cassel (Ned's man that got killed - I think you may have called him "Yogurt" or something? 😂😜). Keep the episode reactions coming.🎉 BTW, your comment on Theon's moment of full-frontal nudity is one of the few male instances of it ever, but there is at least one more to come in GoT. For a non-GoT male full frontal, check out Kevin Bacon in Wild Things; naturally it will always be flaccid, but to finally have men showing it is a step forward, IMHO.

Jaime is much stronger than Ned. He is at least one of the top 3 strongest swordsmen in the world, many believe that he is the best
@benjaminkirk46785 ай бұрын
Yeah the disappointment on Jamie’s face is so telling. For years he had been hearing how Ned had beat Jamie’s idol Arthur Dayne and must have thought Ned was going to be the most amazing swordsman he’d ever faced. Then he saw the reality and was bewildered and disappointed.
@kylethompson30085 ай бұрын
I think you mean better sword fighter. When it comes to just strength, I would give it to Ned. In the books, it's a given that Jamie is better, but in the show, they made it pretty even. That even had Jamie's actor with a worried look on his face when Ned was able to fight back
@applehead2004mj5 ай бұрын
@@kylethompson3008 The show also clearly shows that Jamie is much better. He moves much more freely and smoothly, and unlike Ned, he doesn't sweat or catch his breath. Jaime was just playing around. Ned even had the advantage of a Valyrian steel sword
@kylethompson30085 ай бұрын
@applehead2004mj Yup, Jamie was smoother while Ned was stronger. If Jamie was playing around, he wouldn't have had that worried look on his face. It's all a moot point since the fight was cut short, but I do believe the show version of Jamie would have eventually gotten the upper hand and won

How on Earth was Viserys a good father?!!?!?! He neglected the f out of three of his children (most of them) and stood idly by as his family grew apart. He allowed one child to blindly act in whatever degenerate way and however she wanted and caused a murderous division between his family that led to the death of almost a million people in a war he caused by his neglect and wanton favouritism and absolute lack of parenting. He cared more about legos than his children. The fact ppl say he’s a good father is a laughable travesty lmao. Viserys from game of thrones was a better man in that he caused less death and destruction. Viserys literally caused the worst war in the history of Westeros by favoritism and going against all the laws of succession in westeros tbh he was pushed to in that regard by daemon being a disgusting horrible human being. Viserys is the worst villain with most lives on his hands than any other degenerate in this universe and to hear ppl call him a good father is disgusting bro chose to have his wife eviscerated (she did not consent to it lol) for a son then he had two and neglected the f out of them lmao.
