I am Cherokee on my mother’s side, while my father was Scotch-Irish. Unfortunately, he left when he found out my mother was pregnant, so I know very little about him. This has often made me feel like an outcast, unsure if I would be accepted by most natives. Despite this, I’ve always felt a deep connection to our heritage. I prefer using a bow and tracking when I hunt, rather than guns. I also have an incredible sense of direction, which my wife jokes about, asking if Sacajawea was one of my ancestors. The closest I’ve ever felt to being respected for my heritage was when a full-blooded Native American visited my mom’s pizza inn. He loved the food she cooked and talked to her about our heritage. She told him about me, and he called me the “White Wolf.” I was 12 at the time, and that name has stuck with me ever since.

I’m actually surprised that the actual wolf size is actual to the human as depicted in this video. Very good representation. My great grandmother was Cherokee. I wish that I had got meet her. My mother would tell me about her grandmother telling her stories about the Civil War growing up in Missouri hiding from gorilla raiders. Why do we not write these things down when we are young so much is lost.
