This song elegantly illustrates the bittersweet emotions of letting go, and embracing a new beginning. Its painful to let go but it turns the page to another exciting chapter. What lies ahead? We dont know... but thats the beauty of living in the moments while facing the indifference of the unknown.

Yoko Kanno is a mastermind, but if anyone wants to enjoy the original version as well, it's Bill Evans' Symbiosis: 2nd Movement: Largo-Adante-Maestroso-Largo, Pt. 1 & Pt. 2
@MagnussBaugis4 жыл бұрын
man, the plagiarism on Yoko Kanno's part is heartbreaking; for years I've been admiring her work on all the different animes, but the more you dig into the tunes, the more it becomes obvious that she's been nicking stuff left and right, and this one is one of the more blatant thefts.
@Joey-Jett4 жыл бұрын
@@MagnussBaugis I agree, it's been interesting noticing all of the inspiration and pieces she used from other jazz musicians. Luckily however, in Jazz it's more of a supported and often anticipated touch than a lot of purists who criticize today's musicians for using samples of other tracks in their songs. It's the same thing, except in Jazz, Blues, etc you perform those pieces rather than replaying recordings of them. Anyone who's reading this, don't let it disenchant you though, I stand in defense of the use of samples. I don't use them in my music, but I find it to be a legitimate tool for making a great song because you're still creating with something that inspires you and making something that's your own just as our Jazz and Bluegrass forefathers have done for nearly a century. If you really want to date it, we've been doing that since our most primitive stages of understanding music when we were imitating the sounds of nature and animals. That being said though, I love Bill Evans' original just as much. It totally trips me out everytime I hear it though because I discovered this song first many years ago in highschool lol At the end of the day, music is music and there are no rules to sound. There are guides to methods that appeal to the masses with composition and theory, but they're just that - methods established by others.
@MagnussBaugis4 жыл бұрын
@@Joey-Jett Sorry, what I was talking about has nothing to do with samples or sampling as a method for music making (also, when musicians use samples, they are required to pay dues/royalties to the owners of the original). This is a professional musician/composer ripping off another professional musician/composer. If Bill Evans were still alive (or, I guess, popular enough) and shown this, there would be a lawsuit. Not sure what you mean with the "in jazz it's more supported" bit; You can present these two tunes to anyone who has studied jazz or classical music, I'd be really surprised if anyone would not raise a red flag. Yoko Kanno's version, even though simplified and shortened, is so close to the original (up until the point where Bill Evans goes into the jazz trio zone) it's an audio meme of "-Can I copy your homework? -Yes, sure, just change it a bit so it doesn't look the same." To me the whole Yoko Kanno situation is real simple - if she has credited the artists whose tunes she has used as a source, then most sincere apologies - I did not know that and then I'm totally out of line here. If, however, she has built her whole career on the assumption that a) the average Anime viewer does not know where her music comes from and b) Western-World musicians would not stumble upon her OSTs because they don't watch Japanese Anime (especially in the pre-internet era), that's just, eh, a bummer.
@Joey-Jett4 жыл бұрын
@@MagnussBaugis no worries, I kind of just went into a mindfart tangent that branched off of the original topic lol. I know exactly what you mean though, I personally haven't seen her credit Bill Evans anywhere (I certainly hope she has). It would definitely raise some flags. Personally, I don't discredit Yoko Kanno about it though, because she's composed incredible pieces of original music as well. I see it as Janis Joplins "Summertime" or Elvis' "Hound Dog". Though Elvis didn't credit Big Momma Thornton (and changed some of the words), he still proved himself as a talent independent musician with.. ...a bad reaction to fame in the end lol

Sadly because MOST of the people go/prefer "mainstream anime" with the same boring plot AKA: USELESS/stupid guy/girl meets or gets randomly paired with A PERFECT PARTNER whom without any logic or reason falls heads over heels for the boring protagonist, OR ALSO the "macho" plot with hundred of fights and ENDLESS power ups, OR THE FULL OF GORE AND BLOODY story were everyone is a psycho...even the dog is mad 😆; AND lets not skip the "magical creature+trainer" who goes fighting around the world aiming to be "the best fighter" with said "pet". AND DONT FORGET TONS OF FANSERVICE AND CHEAP COMEDY. Yep, that is the kind of anime that sells this days. Anime with deep stories and a new plot that goes far from the mentioned examples, are not so popular among the anime fans unfortunately....
