In this episode you realize that Shannon may be crazy obsessed with her beast but she isn't down right cruel. She still has respect for the "beast" and the fact it's a living thing just like any other animal. It screams the message that all she's not really obsessed with the beast, she's just obsessed with trying to prove everyone wrong.
