The Tarpa Player

Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda is one of the last Tarpa players in Walvanda, Maharashtra. The Tarpa Player forms the core of Warli Art and the Adivasi community.
He is 85 years old, and can move about like a 40-year old. His energy, optimism and drive is infectious. He is an inspiration to all, and I hope you like this simple character vignette.

I am a avid listener of world music . Music brings harmony and peace no matter what and how one understands. Music like THE LAST OF MOHICANS was very rare for the world until it came on big screen... TARPA is same so very different and beautiful... this has to go long way ... atleast for OUR great India. Unless n until we as ONE don't appreciate our culture and respect our communities TARPA would never succeed..... hats off Sir
