The was one chatter who tried to say they have personally seen wolf dogs be “domesticated”. No wolfdog is fully domesticated there is always uncertainty when dealing with one since you do not know if they will react like a dog or a wolf. Wolfdogs tend to be extremely fearful of people (a bad trait for any dog) and need more care and space than a regular dog. So no you cannot fully domesticated one and no you should not just treat them as if they are a household pet (even if some people try to). Not to mention how these wolfdogs even get bred in the first place which is almost always unethically done and unethically sold to people who can’t give them the care they need. I think people very often confuse domesticated with “tame”. Any animal can be calm around a person after years of training. That doesn’t mean they’re domesticated. Personality verses genetics in that situation.

Omg just a mention of Jenna makes me so happy! Like my heart just jumped lol (my heart OWW) but seriously you should know I only know Alveus exists because of Julien Solomita's KZbin channel. I honestly am not a gamer and I hadn't been watching twitch regularly the past 2 years but I came back to it because of you guys. I'm actually really enjoying music and art streams on there again. I'm massively interested in the wolves and in the conservation of predator species in their natural habitats. They're such an important part of the ecosystem, it's really cool that y'all have a slice of that conservation effort to start to talk about for me personally. The birds are really cool, I love them! But I think that with wolves being kinda rare in the united states in most of their native habitat I think that this is really cool and very close to home.

it's a conservation center first and foremost, not just a content factory agreed though, maybe painting the fence black can help with some of the camera issues too

i feel like its a horrible idea for maya to have dangerous wolfs, they cant be interacted with and are just unsafe, its 100% going to end badly

they have safety precautions and know how to handle the animals. (I'm pretty sure Maya has said she's worked with tigers before opening the sanctuary? I might be wrong) Either way they'll be fine lol

That's good 'cause they WON'T be interacted with. Nobody will ever be in the same enclosure as them, not even the staff. There is a switch pen where the wolfdogs will be put (attracted using food) when it becomes necessary to clean/maintain the main enclosure. Everything is protected contact.

Also, we don't know if they'd ever actually attack anyone. The protected contact is purely just to guarantee that something won't happen. Plus, loads of zoos have wolves, and they don't have problems. These wolfdogs have a large enriched environment, so they will hopefully become very stable and chilled out once they settle and trust the staff. And like the commentir above me said, she's worked with larger and more statistically dangerous animals before. You could also say that the parrots are dangerous because of how easily they could break someones fingers off since they do get somewhat hands on interaction but I bet you didn't think of that since its not a wolf 🤷. The foxes, although small, could potentially do some serious damage too. Most animals on the sanctuary have the capability to cause harm, that doesn't mean they are automatically unsafe to work with.
