Another great demo video! I’ve owned the 17RS with auto cycle as my primary splitter for about 6 months and I am extremely happy with it! I’ve used it with and without the 4 way wedge as you demonstrated. Really like splitting up the more difficult rounds with the single way wedge. Thanks for sharing info on the brass slides, I will have to get a set of brass slides once I use the ones provided with the splitter. Nice work!

Nice demo on the overall features of that machine. The wedge adjustment feature is a great idea. Appears simplistic but also functional. Takes away the hydraulic adjusting but, allows for use of that hydraulic feed on either the log lift or the auto cycle. And you still get some adjustment on the 4 way. Nice machine!

Great demo !! I have owned the RS w/ Auto Cycle valve for about a month and 10 cords now . This spitter has the best combination of power and speed . In 10 cords of wood I have not had any need to remove the 4 way wedge . The speed of this spitter lies in the power to run the 4 way with a 6 second cycle time . I feel the 6 second RS 22 with a 4 way is quicker and safer than the 4 second Ultra 2 way wedge , the 4 second Ultra couldn't handle a 4 way in all situations like the 22 RS, my opiion . The 22 RS eats anything and it eats fast . A 13hp engine with a 4 inch cylinder is a pretty sweet combo . Hydraulic wedge lift is neat but I like the simplicity of the RS . Nothing gets stuck under the wedge . In my opinion a fixed wedge is faster for me because it's one less function to mess with . Auto_cycle is great for me because I am a 1 person operation . It is nice to grab another round while the RS is doing it's thing . The RS models with ACV have a nice log staging shelf . I personally don't need a log lift because I stage logs on a bucking table . This RS 22 ACV is perfect for how I work. I could have purchased the 28 Compact Commercial but it has features that I don't need / want etc. I feel that calling the RS 22 a re-splitter is not accurate . The 22 RS ACV is my primary splitter and it is a fast , powerful beast . There is nothing entry level about it. The frame is the same as the 28 Pro and 28 Compact Commercial units . This thing is beefy . I am so happy to own this splitter , I know that this macine is perfect for my operation . Good day !

Can you replace the nut and bolt with a quick pin or does it need to tighten down on the wedge? Another great video!
@BacktoBob1 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't need to tighten so to speak, but there's protection built into the wedge to keep the bolt and nut from getting hit with wood exiting the wedge. The concern would be if a pin was used instead of the bolt, the pin could get hit by the wood and removed. But, maybe a bolt with no threads and just a pin hole could be used? I'm told that most people with the RS machines or skid steer splitters just find the optimal height for their operation and they leave the wedge in that place.

At it again bob yeah it’s very cold here in ohio also seems to be a nice splitter think I would have to stay with the log lift. Would really love to to have the 35sho so can also do mobile splitting when customers ask have before with my county line but it not to be pulled also just can’t break the bank going end up finance it checked hartville but nothing on there site ??
@BacktoBob1 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I know that Hartville has a couple different finance options but I don’t know what they are. Best to call there and ask for Jerry, Kody, or John in outdoor power equipment.

Would love to see this compared to a county line 40 ton. It appears your 22 ton handles large rounds also and have heard the "box store" splitters aren't always rated properly? That would be my only hesitation as I've had to weld on mine and replace the valve 3 times, I'd love something built better like these appear to be. Thanks.
@BacktoBob1 Жыл бұрын
This would be a fun comparison. I think in some cases yes, some of the box store machines have a tonnage rating slapped on there and it isn’t quite accurate. Maybe they use a 40 ton cylinder for example, but the engine and pump supplying that cylinder don’t give the optimal flow or pressure to actually utilize all 40 tons of said cylinder.

Question - can one order the RS-22 with the 3.5” cylinder so you can take advantage of the speed with the bigger 13 HP Honda and 22gpm pump? Wondering how much faster it would be with that config if you just need it to re-split quickly.
@BacktoBob1 Жыл бұрын
The 17 RS and 22 RS are not customizable aside from color, and picking auto cycle or loglift. I see your point though, it would be faster but then would maybe need a cooler as well to combat heat. The cycle time is so fast already you really need two people to keep this fed.
@alexmattyspac76059 күн бұрын
Maybe im the first to say this maybe not. If its not already make the nut for the 4 way a 3/4 or 19 mm so a scrench will fit it. Most people have one when making fire wood.
