Today we test out our new Wolfe Ridge Pro 28C compact commercial long splitter on some big 30 inch oak rounds using the 4-way wedge. We're still breaking in the machine, and it has a few kinks to work out, but overall, I'm really satisfied with the performance and output of the machine.
This is the same log splitter used on the Outdoors With The Morgans youtube channel, and similar to the one used by Back 40 Firewood. I've been watching these other channels for a while, and have seen how well the splitters perform with a variety of wood.
My Wolfe Ridge splitter will be used to grow my firewood business. Each of the last two years I've been limited by time with how much firewood I could produce. My old Champion splitter doesn't have nearly the same output potential as this machine. Don't forget to subscribe and join us on Facebook, too / flatcreekoutdoors

This exactly why I like vertical splitters for the big stuff.

WOW!! That thing is a beast!! You went through those rounds without any trouble. Now you will need to find just that much more wood to feed it.

I'm already concerned about that. I'll keep scrounging up what I can for now, but hope to have a more regular supply delivered to me.

Every one has the learning curve.. Chris is excellent in response time so your issues should be fixed in no time.. When the Champion splitter goes you should do a celebration video.. I know I will when the time comes..😁👍

I bought the 35SHO and for me with the logs i cut it was the better option. I like that its heavier and has a full suspension under it plus bigger motor and pump. The log lift is definitely a back saver!

That splitter is awesome. That lift has got to save the back. Thanks for the video, stay warm with the big storm today.

Hi Phil - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. With those large rings, it looks like you would benefit from more table space. A free standing trestle to your left could be a simple and cheap option. A longer term project could be to make a new metal table without the turn up by your left side that could match up with a free standing table, giving you a large flat area to your left to move pieces around when resplitting those larger logs.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not trying to make it a habit to deal with large wood like this, but you're right. The table is way undersized for pieces like this.

I just received my 35c, trying to learn the 4 and 6 way wedge adjustments. Guess it will work its way out. Congratulations on the splitter. Have a Safe Day

hi there nice splitter but not a big fan on 4 ways or more and see there will be a bit of a learning curve . i think i would use a 2way to brake into 1/4s then switch to the 4 way for final brake down . you should get many years of splitting with that nice splitter . stop by for a visit some time john

I have the exact same splitter I purchased from the same dealer and I live in North Carolina. There is no way that splitter should be acting like that. I was busting big oak rounds the same size yesterday. Regardless of grain orientation the splitter worked flawlessly. I specifically bought that model because I'm routinely busting huge sweet gum rounds, much harder to split than oak. When you spend close to 10 grand make them get it working correctly.

Watch letting those big rounds fall off the sides. They can get squirrely and fall back on the valves and hoses. Also on the big boys handle them on the non lift side so if they do drop off they are on the side with the lift. I bet that conveyor is on the short list now! 😁

I'm glad it's working better, you will be working harder just to keep the splitter feed,but you will be blasting thru the wood

I'm almost of the mind of having a plain vertical splitter to quarter those really big diameter rounds before putting them through the wolfe ridge, especially if there are a lot of them, just to have them ready, and keep the wolfe ridge moving once you get going, not having to re-split and manhandle them so much.

Very nice machine. As you become more proficient with it, think of how fast you will tear through those wood piles. You are going to have to stock pile a whole lot more wood.

When I first saw the auto return issue, I wondered if there was possibly some air trapped in the valve that needed to work itself out. Who knows.

Even with the 25hp Honda w/38gpm pump it makes better scenes to just chainsaw the super large rounds into halves or even quadrants.

Takes 87 seconds to split what your new one can do in under 10 seconds with the six way.. I did the math my champion splitter after I got the 12-22... she's alot of fun to run.. your going to need a conveyor to clear the cuts faster...

You keep complaining about the auto cycle and how it only works as the machine gets the hyd fluid up to operating temp and yet you keep running it without adjusting the valve LIKE THE MANUAL SAYS!!! ( and like the tech guy said to do when you called to complain....) Quit complaining and adjust it! I have a Wolferidge and absolutely love it. Yes, I had to adjust that valve too, its set the way it is when new because if they back it off too far at the factory it will kick out before you want it to.
@FlatCreekOutdoors
@FlatCreekOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
No its not deliberately improperly set from the factory. Chris as WR recently made a video to talk about how bad these Galtech valves have been. They have had several that just need constant adjustment & it looks like mine might be one of them. If you got a machine with Prince valves, consider yourself lucky. I've had several more recent videos showing the machine running well. Thanks for watching
