How frequent are modern subs surfaced? And when they are you allowed to walk on deck to like take in the view or something?

@@CaptainJY01 Not at all, the only people who go topside in transit, the few times we were even surfaced, were the lookouts, of which i was one usually and the OOD and OOW. Occasionally the skipper or the xo or the cob will make an entrance, but its a small space for all those people, and everyone has a job to do. I was on a boomer, so really, the only times i remember being on the surface was when the seals on the trash chute failed and during maneuvering watch. Most other times we stayed down, but then the boat also drove better submerged than ww2 era ships. A U boat was like a surface ship that could submerge for a limited time, on battery power, where as we could run our diesel submerged with a snorkel sticking out of the water

Wäre nett wenn du mal die Einstellungen der jeweiligen Feindfahrt teilen könntest. Eingabe einer Länge ist nur relevant bei einem Salvenschuss und da wird auch nicht die Schifflänge, sondern die Salvenlänge (Distanz zwischen den Torps) eingestellt. Bewährt hat sich hier viertel Schiffslänge bei zentriertem anhalten. Wenn du versuchst Geschwindigkeiten zu messen, dann stabilisier dein AP, sonst wird das nur ungenau (links Klick gedrückt halten). AOB entweder in paralleler Fahrt über Deckungsgleiche bei Kingposts bestimmen, oder beim Kreuzen vorm Konvoi. In beiden Fällen sollte der Konvoikurs zeichnerisch bestimmt werden und dadurch relativ der AOB zur eigenen Position bei Schuss. Effektivster Angriffswinkel ist dabei 45° gewinkelt auf den Konvoi zulaufend, vgl. Kommandantenhandbuch der Ubootwaffe im 2.WK Bezüglich des Sonars: 30 Sek. Pings sind die Standardpings der Zerstörer. Schnellere Pings heißt nur, dass sie alarmiert sind und suchen. Wichtig wird es wenn die Besatzung einen Ping auf Hülle bekommt, heißt wenn ihr als Besatzung die nicht am Sonar ist den Ping auch hören könnt. Das Bedeutet entdeckt, Alarmtauchen (Maschinen AK, Untertriebszelle voll, parallel tauchen bis 15 damit die Schraube nicht raus kommt, dann steil, bei Tiefe 70 Untertriebszelle ausblasen), Frage maximale Tiefe, klar zur WaBo-Verfolgung.

Kleiner Tipp zur Unterscheidung absolute und relative Peilung: Die absolute Peilung/Richtung (Kurs) wird immer in Dreierzahlengruppen angesagt. Also wenn Kurs 120 Grad befohlen wird, dann heißt das „Neuer Kurs eins zwo null“. Die relative Peilung bezogen auf die Schiffsvorausrichtung wird in eins durch angesagt, also wenn das Periskop 120 Grad anzeigt, dann wird auch „einhundertzwanzig“ angesagt.

I am in the process of listening to the memoirs of submarine commander Von Frostner. I really liked this video Vade. I turned it on last Saturday morning and had it playing on the big screen while i prepared breakfast of Hashbrowns and eggs. Nobody was awake yet and mother at one point came down from up stairs and asked about who are the foreign voices she is hearing. 😆 It was very relaxing and a great mood setter for beginning my weekend
