The key to using a laser boresighter like this is to ROTATE the laser bore sighter while it's in the bore. The laser is not 100% concentric, and the aluminum shaft can bend. 1 degree of off angle is 15.5" off @ 50 yards. By rotating it 180* while in the bore, you'll end up with two extremes of the laser's circle of travel, and you zero the scope to the midpoint between those two extremes. I've been using a green laser boresight like this for 2+ years, and have sighted well over a hundred rifles for people at the local range I work at, and I've never required more than 5 rounds to get zeroed to dead center using this method. First shot has always been within 4-6" of center.

Great tip! And of course be sure to rotate counter-clockwise so as not to accidentally unscrew the sizing tip in the bore.

I adjusted the laser by putting it in a drill and aiming at a wall 30' away. At first the dot made a fairly large circle but I was able to reduce that to almost nothing by adjusting the laser with the Allen Wrench. When sighting in a gun I still rotate the boresighter but it's usually very close.
@Moondog2A10 ай бұрын
Does it stay adjusted to center after you switch caliber adapters?
@garyderoy10 ай бұрын
@MoondogIndustries Yes. I think they're just not adjusted very well at the factory. Some might be OK and others not. Mine is an old one from Walmart. The only brand is "Universal", but it operates just like yours. I've got newer, breech style for 22, 9mm & 12G but they're a little off too and harder to adjust. Kind of disappointing really. I wouldn't mind paying more for one that's properly aligned at the factory. So far, in my experience, the more expensive ones aren't any better. But there must be some.

You did all of this and didn’t even bother to shoot to actually see where the rounds hit and how well the laser really works??!!
@Moondog2A3 жыл бұрын
This scope's cross-hairs were already zeroed to that rifle, so the rounds would not have hit exactly where the laser was pointing. They would have landed on paper and you could proceed from there. But if this post gets enough likes, I'll do another video showing how to use these to zero using this laser.
@MrPontiacfever3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing if the rifle was already zeroed in then that means the boresight is off or the scope wasn't zeroed in yet.
@TomDelMundo3 жыл бұрын
@@MrPontiacfever Boresighters are almost always a little bit off because of loose tollerances in those universal adapters. And different barrels have different compensators, crown profiles, etc. It's not worth it to adjust them unless all of your guns have virtually identical barrels or the laser is waaaaaay off the paper.

This reply is 2 year late, got the green one based on your review. I wonder if you would center your laser 1.5 inch below the scope cross hatch, since most scope is around 1.5 inch above the center of the rifle bore, in this case above the laser dot.
@Moondog2A Жыл бұрын
That 1.5 inch adjustment would only be valid if you were shooting at a target that was 1ft or less from your barrel, no? At a distance where you'd need a scope you have favors like ballistic trjectory, velocity, etc?
@bigx9963 Жыл бұрын
@@Moondog2A Thanks for a fast reply. You are definitely right, there is a little thing called 'gravity', longer the bullet travels, the lower it will hit the target. But, it is still a good tool to get started with. Saving a lot of ammos. Thanks a whole bunch.

if you setup your scope (zero in) to 100 yards, Automatically the 50yards or below is already covered?

If you zero in at 100yrds your shots will land higher than center-crosshairs at 50yrds. That's bullet ballistics. www.ammoland.com/2014/06/how-to-zero-your-ar-15-rifle/#axzz73Ie5LNCM

Can you zero at 200 yards?
@Moondog2A2 жыл бұрын
Theoretically, yes. But the farther out you go with this laser the more likely little errors compound. I was able to get on paper at 100yrds and was only about 9" off from the initial laser zero. At 200yrds I'd be 18" off.

Will this thing expand and get stuck in a .22 pcp with a moderator integrated at the end of the barrel?
@Moondog2A2 жыл бұрын
It can. I don't recommend using it in a "suppressed" PCP or break barrel airgun unless you're willing to a take that risk. If you it does get stuck, you should push it back as far into the bore as you can (past the baffles). Unscrew it from the stem. Then get a cleaning rod and push from the muzzle toward the breach and extract the piece that way.
@james6769310 ай бұрын
This will not work on a 'shrouded barrel' pellet rifle; it is too short to reach the barrel through the shroud extension... Does anyone have a way of doing this; maybe an extension? these type laser bore sighters usually have three tiny adjustment screws to center the laser; if rotation indicates the laser not centered...
@Moondog2A10 ай бұрын
You should just remove the shroud temporarily.
