I fell completely in love with this song when my husband rented Snow Cake. I am the mother of a child with autism and this song has messages for me. The ones that only my son and I can hear. Thank you for posting this.

That’s so interesting, I got this song from the show ‘The A Word’ which is about a family finding out their son has autism. It’s such a good show.

I loved this song when I first heard it in the Alan Rickman (big fan!) film 'Snow Cake' - a fabulous film (also starring Sigourney Weaver) about autism - the song was perfect for it and I find it quite haunting. :-)

It's sad that all those lame, talentless pop-singers get famous and rich while there are rather unknown bands like this one out there having to fight for recognition. Love it and will see them on southside festival.

Exactly! This is very true! Unfortunately, the music industry fails to acknowledge real talent (as they're just interested in making money with manufactured music)

I was watching The A Word final episode last night, and little Joe was singing this song. I loved it, even though it was only on for a minute. There's been some great music in that series. For those who haven't a clue what I'm talking about, it's a UK drama about a young boy diagnosed with autism and he is obsessed with music from 80's 90's and 00,s.

Same here. Just seen a recording of the final episode and had to look up this song straight away.
@jepz117 жыл бұрын
Agree, it's a great series, and this song is used so appropriately. The lyrics fit the situation well, it's a wonderful metaphor for the dilemma between (bad) thoughts/expectations and love. It is a drama about what the effect of an autistic child on an entire family, including the childs school can be. What I love about the series is it emphasizes autism isn't a disease but an alternative way of 'being', the boy manages to have positive effects as well with the love that surrounds him as an example. He is evoking love, his unusual way of communicating forces you to accept the uncommon. If Joe was my child, I'd do anything for him.

Danged, I think you are right. Distain, that is. It fits the lyrics. Every transcription I found on the Net has this wrong. Verb: distain To tinge with a different colour from the natural or proper one; to stain; to discolour; to sully; to tarnish; to defile; - used chiefly in poetry
