In a strange way, the very last shot being wolf-Bill feels almost as though it's implying the song could apply to him as well as Robyn. Perhaps he too wanted a life outside following Cromwell's orders, but was trapped by the fear of his daughter ever coming to harm.

He must have been an adventurous sort to begin with - otherwise he would have chosen some other new start. Or some other wife!!! I still think their family was pagan or barely converted - what kind of "good Christian family" would name their child Robin Goodfellow?!! In case it's not something you've run across, Robin Goodfellow is one of the names used for Puck - the "Oldest Old Thing in Great Britain", one of the few named fae in ancient lore. No Christian would feel comfortable calling his name on a regular basis, and even a pagan would be risking a lot to invoke such a powerful personage on a daily basis(whenever you called your kid's name!), even if you did leave out food or whatever other rituals they had developed to show respect and make their "good neighbors" happy enough to leave them alone. Fae are dangerous, not cuddly. The Victorians called them "fairies" and painted them with tiny butterfly wings, but it was sentimental wishful thinking. Mind you, Puck was protective of the humans he was fond of, so maybe Robin's mother had become friends with him and felt safe to name her daughter after him, but it still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.... And as for Bill's expression at the end there - I imagine he had just got a good look at Maeve's mother for the first time and found her overwhelmingly awesome. And of course, this is the lady he shot as a wild animal, so he figures she won't want him in the pack, but she's an understanding sort, apparently. They seemed very cuddly in the final scenes, anyway.
