As I was putting together the playlist I am struck by the incredible lyrical beauty in all of Wolstenholme's writing - be sure to check out the others - do you have a favorite? kzbin.info/aero/PLp6Uk_yLNQaD674OvEerweKznnb1WiGCy

Gorgeous. Quite unlike his other compositions, at least harmonically, thanks for airing this little gem of a piece. Lovely to hear those strings being used by someone else!

Fantastic Flutes, steam-powered shimmering strings, a polished and pastoral performance... definitely mouth-watering. I loved the hidden eule eggs. You are truly Amazing, Jerry!

I do believe "choo choo" is the sound an owl makes. Definitely one of the most lyrical and beautiful melodies of recent uploads. BRAVO!!! THIS sets a new standard! #Roasted #SlowCooked

Thank you so much! And yes indeed - Merlin agrees that your knowledge of birdsong is superlative. It's definitely cuts the #mustard - and inspires future shenanigans!

Gorgeous! One can almost see a shepherd upon a hill playing this lilting melody echoing through the hills at the beginning!

A stunning performance, Jerry, of this really beautiful 'Cantilene' by Wolstenholme. It sounds gorgeous on this awesome sample set - such an amazing example of the tonal colours found in a wonderfully majestic romantic organ. Your videography is never less than professional and your uploads are always a total joy: bravo!

Thank you so much Graham! I loved this the first time I discovered it, but actually playing it really is recommended - those harmonies in the middle section! Best wishes!

That was amazing. Also like the steam locomotive scene. I have finished building the flying Scotsman (7 1/4" gauge) and have just returned from driving the narrow gauge lock in the park. Thank you ever so much Jerry. 😊

Lovely Jerry, I really like the way in which you have registered this sample set to make it sound like one of the gorgeous UK town hall organs especially as this piece is very much in the traditional Victorian "town hall" style of music. You could imagine a piece like this would've been played to the masses 100 years ago, but today nearly forgotten! Thanks for keeping these works alive and also for introducing me to some gorgeous music!!

Thank you so much! And you've hit the nail on the head - this is my favorite period and style of music - I think the reasons it all fell out of favor are complicated, but I think its time to return is now!

Beautifully managed and played Jerry. Wolstenholme was a prolific composer and his music is very tuneful and instantly appealing, rather like Hollins. (They were born in the same year as was Lemare- a good year)! It makes you wonder why this music is not often played as it would surely help the general public to enjoy the organ as an instrument in its own right.

Thank you so much David - I agree - it's wonderful music. It's a shame it all fell out of fashion, but I think its time has come again! Best wishes!
