The problem is NBA contractually has local TV revenue going to local teams. This results in a war over how much geographically is blacked out on the NBA league pass level to force subscribing to "local" providers which goes to the team and not the NBA. This also leads to the big market teams' advantage in paying for players which the league likes since most national TV revenue comes from big markets. Everyone agrees that stars get preferential treatment by the refs and guess where most of the most popular stars play? So we end up with the Lakers leading the league in foul shots year after year....

I can see Windy submitting Tim's annual evaluation to ESPN HR: "Bontempts' approach during the discussion on the New Orleans Pelicans came across as assertive but at times may have unintentionally overshadowed his colleagues. There were moments where his contributions appeared to dismiss alternative perspectives, and he occasionally interrupted others, which might have limited the opportunity for a more balanced exchange of ideas. While his expertise is evident, a more collaborative and inclusive tone could enhance the quality of discussions and foster a more constructive dialogue among the team."

I find the criticism of Wemby’s three point rate a bit repetitive. The hosts want him to post up more and play like Giannis but Giannis was never a dominant post up player! He had trouble posting up James Harden, and a week ago when he tried to take position against OG Anunoby, he got pushed from near the paint up to the three point line. And that’s normal: Giannis has like Wemby a high center a gravity and a thin waist. That means a « weaker » lower body compared to stouter players like… OG Anunoby, and no amount of time spent in the wait room will fix that. Giannis is so dominant because he is the best driver of all time. His flexibility quickness and prodigious upper body strength allows him to finish through contact with ease. However, that came at the expense of any form of outside shot, which is repeatedly exploited by the defences which leave him open and prefer building a wall to stop him. Furthermore, adding so many pounds of muscle to an already abnormal frame like Victor’s will put him under serious risk of long term injuries (remember Yao Ming’s feet?). I don’t absolve Wemby from everything! His handle is way too loose, the screens he sets are catastrophic, and his shot selection has much to improve. Even his defensive awareness is sub-optimal. But I wanted to challenge the new that the path to him becoming a dominant player should be through adding 40 lbs of muscle and becoming taller Giannis. a hybrid of Jayson Tatum/ Joel Embiid (after Nick Nurse arrival), which would blend three point shots with elbow touches and drive to the rim is the path they seem to have set. And the lobs will always be there, but for that he must have a dominant ball-handler who is a scoring menace to collapse the defense and free Wemby. Chris Paul has been amazing, but he can’t sustain that offensive load anymore and we see that the defences repeatedly sag him in the pick and roll to stop the lob at all cost! Anyway, that was just my two cents. Feel free to voice your opinion!
@matthieu5697Күн бұрын
I would say that their take on Wemby is really off in this segment. As if it had been recorded 1 month ago. They see no progression and explain that his stats are flat compared to last year. The man averages 34 points on the last 5 games, 26 on the last 10 games, 23 on the season so far. How is that not a progression? He started very rusty with a few horrible games but has been on fire since then. He is also at 39% 3pm on a very high volume over the past 10 games. Why would he stop shooting?

On Wemby & Threes at 25:03 : When planning for the years to come (and not focusing on this season), it is probably more important for Wemby at 20 y.o to work on his 3-pt shoot than it is to focus on what he can do at the rim. The latter he knows how to do pretty well, and I believe it can be improved much faster (with his abilities and experience) than his 3-pt shoot. What he is doing today that raises eyebrows (mainly because is does not maximize its immediate potential) is part of a career strategy and a franchise strategy for the next 15 years...

Exactly! He will never lose his ability to attack the rim. He is basically working on his shot in game as he plans to be playing FIBA 3 summers out of 4 and won't have time to do it during the off season. He is already getting more efficient. He is shooting 42% from 3 on the last 5 games, 38 over the past 10. He needs to be a threat from 3 if he wants space in the paint. He cannot do good yet with a paint crowded with stocky defenders.

Not only does Randle take the ball out of the hands of Ant, but he does for the whole team. Conley cannot set the table near as well now when he is playing. @pleasedonttemptme5963 JDub is almost never guarded by bigs, every team cross matches him because he would torch bigs pushed out to the 3pt line. I'm more talking about guards that frequently hit elbows, forearms, and mid air pushes of JDub that doesn't get called, which happens 5-6x per game and is almost never called for him. Those exact plays are getting called on the other side of the floor, which is where the frustration comes from of OKC.

Zion last 2 games he shot 50 and 70 percent from the field. He only played 6 games , to say his finish ability is mediocre based off 6 games is ridiculous. Definitely gotta stay healthy tho but he clearly doesn’t want to be in New Orleans.

Trading Zion right now is a total loser, nobody would give you anything to work with at this point. They're forced to wait and hope he'll start balling and then make the move.

These three basketball geeks go 40 minutes on the Timberwolves problems and don't mention the team moving on from defensive stud Kyle Anderson. Slo-mo grabbed the hustle rebounds, hit the back door pass, and did all of the little things that never showed up in the box score.

I'm sorry, but what are these 'experts' watching if they really thought Minnesota was going to be good. Last year's 50-win season was the aberration. It was Atlanta's ECF run. They're not great, they won't be. Trade Gobert, trade Randle.
