TBH, now I don't expect much from the new album. Metal parts are too generic and boring both on this song and serpent's eye (however Hausswolff's performance is just.. haunting. It's better than anything she recorder before). It seems like they said all they had to say in the previous albums, and this one is just a gesture to the fans who have long asked for new material.

gotta wait for the whole thing and see how it all fits in the grander scheme of things tbh, going for more traditional in your face blackmetal in the metal parts might be an interesting move. If you think about it, this kind of straight and simple metal is definitely something new in their work so I can't say that they aren't moving onto new stuff with a straight face. PS: After a few listens I can say with more confidence that I'm digging it
