Three-year-old Julian Wood and his mother Margot were in the parking lot of an Ohio grocery store when Bionca Ellis, 32, allegedly attacked them with a knife. Julian was severely wounded and died at the hospital. His mom is expected to survive. During her arraignment, Ellis refused to cooperate via video stream, so the judge brought her into the courtroom to hear the 10 charges against her. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber analyzes Ellis’s bizarre courtroom behavior with Ohio trial attorney Diane Menashe.

She wasn't in the store - like the main part from the photographs. That's like the inner part of a GE where the buggies are kept and the cash registers are. Its a different setup from my local GE, but from the footage, appears as if she didn't encounter a lot of people. But this attack happened in the parking lot and just rushed them. From what I heard, she stole the knife from like a Goodwill or thrift store before booking it to the GE.

"Your mental illness is not your fault, but it is your responsibility". Great quote by Marcus Parks LPOTL. Just like if you're impaired, you get behind the wheel and kill someone... if you have any type of mental health disorder.. it is YOUR responsibility to get help to keep you and others safe. To let this monster walk free for even a moment is a slap in the face to every one of us who struggle with our mental health each and every day and still wouldn't even dream of hurting an innocent baby... or anyone for that matter I cannot imagine what this has done to this child's family... if you're reading this, I am so deeply sorry. You all need to learn the legal definition of a hate crime. This is a random act of violence. Both equally deplorable, neither is better or worse. There is no reason or rationale for this to occur, and based on that they need to rule out insanity and whether she has competency. I personally hope they are able to prove otherwise and go for death penalty, if not, life without possibility of parole. There are laws for a reason. My thoughts are with this poor family, impossible to comprehend this loss and traumatic event.

I have significant doubts about that attorney he interviewed. What's her game? And she initially said the perpetrator had no prior criminal history, but she was completely wrong. If I were this Law and Crime guy, I would be far more careful about choosing people to interview.

I agree 100%! In my opinion she also seemed super intent on making excuses for this woman’s actions. Where is the outrage in what this woman did? Stop excusing her evil actions on her mental health. She took an innocent child’s life away and forever destroyed the parents/loved one’s lives forever.
