It seems to me like this child's aunt SAVED her, rather than kidnapped her. Had the child remained with her mother, in the state her mother was in, with the gangs and the drug deals....she likely would have been taken from her mother and put in foster care because her Mom IS an unfit guardian. At least, with her grandparents, she's with family.

The tragic loss of an innocent child’s life due to family not intervening is MUCH worse.. the failure of that mother to choose her reckless and destructive lifestyle above the safety of her own child is the betrayal upon the child, so I wouldn’t feel sorry for that “mothers” feelings at all, she is the perpetrator and her family saving that child are the heroes

As a sister or mother, I would be the first one to report you and take your child away from you if you choosed a life as a dopehood and/or some arm candy for drug dealing thugs. It' is never a child's responsibilty to pay for the consequences of your action.
