Pedo? Lol what the hell?! Are a few screws loose in your head man? Are you serious? He bought the drone for fun, and was flying it when some crackpot senile woman threw a rock at it. He wasn't hurting anyone. The drone flew *close* to her. Take note that he had no intention of going near her given that they were feuding. It just happened to pass around her area as he was landing. If she felt uncomfortable she could have told him and not throw a rock. Were not savages! Im wondering who is the real "fucktard" here, your calling him a pedo when he has a family and the woman is clearly older than him?! -___- Lets call all the grown men in the Army who fly drones pedos right? and the FBI/CIA perverts for having access to surveillance tech? Fuck it, lets call everyone with a drone and/or camera a sex offender right?!

So what if he wants to have fun with it? You really aren't making any sense. There are grown men who film themselves doing stupid shit for children, your point is? @DoggydDogg Your grammar is poor and so are your morals. Obviously you are very immature , naive, and wicked. Neighbors can be very mischievous when they are in dispute, I know because I'm an adult with real world experience. As for your comments about burning innocent women,that is a devilish lie. No religion of Jesus Christ practices harming any innocent person. Anyone who has killed anyone who speaks against the church are not true followers of the Lord. You speaking against God, or the church only places judgment upon yourself. Blasphemy against a church is forgivable, blasphemy against any man is forgivable, but never will you be forgiven if you speak against God. Many White KKK members claimed to be Christians, yet their actions, and hatred of Blacks proved they were not true Christians. Remember the Devil goes to church too, so do wicked deceitful people. You lack knowledge, and understanding. I place the majority of the blame on your parental guardians. A corrupt child is the result of corrupt parenting. A corrupt child that does not get proper parenting will grow to be a corrupt adult and the cycle continues.

There's another video around here where the woman tried to steal the drone, got caught, and then lied to police about how she was endangered; again the video proved she was a liar. How many liars are going to get caught this way before they stop? Perhaps the answer is to prosecute them to the full extent of the law for destruction or theft. Too bad charges were dropped in this case.

I ran into an issue 2 months ago where a woman tried to say I wasn't 'allowed' to fly in a public park. She walked up to a parked police cruiser and told them she felt I was invading her privacy. The police officer told me what she said to him and I chuckled. He even shook his head and said she was over paranoid. He had no issue with me flying in the park as long as I wasn't flying over people's heads and being reckless. The real problem is people are very miss informed regarding drones. They look at it as spying tools when in fact you need to fly real close to a subject to make out what they're doing. As for me though, I even told the officer if I had another battery, I would of brought my Inspire 1 back up in the air. The lady seemed upset when she left. Most likely because the police did nothing to stop me. It seems this old lady in the video is no different. Miss informed and must be bored with her life. If that drone fell and hurt someone because of her, she would be charged.

Javier Hernandez: " Improper photo and video without concent is illegal and a felony, think again idiot" Impressive. Every word in that sentence was wrong. Not many people can be as wrong as you just proved yourself to be...but here we are. In America, the courts and the law disagree with your view of how things should be as *public photography is a First Amendment Protected Activity.* US Supreme Court cases, Kyllo v. United States and Boyd v. United States affirmed the English Common Law of *"The Eyes Can Not Trespass"*. Laws and case rulings have repeatedly affirmed photographers' rights. The Supreme Court also has ruled in Katz v. United States you have no expectation of privacy if there is any way to see your home/backyard from a public street or sidewalk...or from above if someone is flying an aircraft. *Your discomfort doesn't trump other peoples' rights.* Put more directly, you have given up any expectation that you cannot be “observed or disturbed by other people” by virtue of entering a public space or being in a position where you can be seen by others from a public space, even in your back yard. *Photography is NOT a crime.*

Someone wrote this as a comment: "What the danger is that many people are using them to look into you or your kids windows while they change at night. Most places have bans on flying them in residential neighborhoods or close to condo towers for that reason." How many of you leave your window blinds or drapes etc open when it gets dark, especially in your bedroom/bathroom ? Anyone? How many people that would even bother to spy on you would go to the trouble of buying a noisy drone and then park it close enough to see through the glare on the windows when they could silently walk up to your open no blinds/drapes windows at night and use the 4k zoom cell phone in their pocket? Even with GPS hold they move enough that it would likely hit the window and crash right next to the house. So for people writing these comments does what I said make even a tiny bit of sense to you? If this was anywhere remotely a common practice of peeping toms we would hear about it all the time. I watch local news every night and guess what no drones in the news ever....people putting cameras in bathrooms or locker rooms you hear about on the news, but NOT quadcopters spying on people. What makes comments like this even more stupid is these consumer quads only have a 20 to 30 minute flight time and 30 is really pushing the limits so the peeping tom would have to wait in front of these wide open viewing windows at night waiting for the home owners to start changing into their PJs. OMG the stupidity is astounding. The condo tower argument is absurd as well....guess what..people that are going to peep are ones living in the tower next door with the DSLR or telescope and you will never know the are taking your pictures, how the heck to you think Private investigators get pictures of cheaters? with noisy drones? or course not that would be stupid.....

A person has the legal right to photograph or film in a public space. There is no law that denies that right. I think it's more about being respectful. If someone asks you not to video or photograph them, the right thing to do is to respect that and not do it. Of course, if they are committing a crime or something that warrants being filmed, that may be a different story. The woman in this case, however, is an asshole. @J acutally Tyler is correct. NoFlyZone.org is what the lady was talking about. There are articles and other interviews were she stated the website she registered her home with. Thing is, the NoFlyZone website is run by a private company and drone manufacturers must partner with the site to access the geofences that the site creates. The quad manufacturer 3DR does not partner with that website, so their drones to not see the 'geofences' NoFlyZone made. Even if 3DR did partner with NoFlyZone.org, the drone's owner could just turn on Altitude mode, which means he is flying the drone manually and GPS system doesn't control the drone. That makes the geofences useless. Or in other words, the lady wasted her time with that non-sense.

How comfortable would you be with that? How about if you are a firefighter fighting a wildfire in a remote region that requires aircraft and some guy decides that he should get some film footage of this cool wildfire for his youtube channel with his drone? You realize that shuts down the airspace for any potential aircraft assistance? Then you got guys like this flying around powerlines and so on. It isnt as simple as you are making it out to be.

So obviously you are a dipshit and there is no reasoning with you. You aren't smart enough to understand reasonable expectation of privacy. From now on...if I see a drone over or around my land filming anything that is not visible from the road...I shoot it down.
@alb90226 жыл бұрын
Wow, around your land huh.... Sure thing. You sure you're not talking about yourself? Lets look at a few details here. It only works 1 way with you - drone = shotgun, doesn't matter if it flies 1 yard outside your property line, and 150 yards up where it's too high for most current drones to film any one private quarters with sufficient detail (I'm not saying this isn't bad, of course not) and that's perfectly fine with you. Destruction of property is fine, no need to ask neighbor or stranger pilot to stop flying over your house plot. I'm not understanding privacy here, yet you'll shoot down this guy's drone even though the woman can barely be identified in the video because he's that high up. Forget the fact that he didn't plant the drone in her, or anyone elses' face alien facehugger style. Wildfire - yeah he shouldn't be flying. If he sees one, first thing he should do is pull down the drone..... but apparently you think that, simply because a wildfire can start, that all UAV hobby vehicles should simply be banned and shot down? I mean, how about we ban all motor vehicles because they can kill someone if a driver isn't in 100% ok condition to drive? Power lines is the only thing I can agree with on you about this, and that's obviously a huge safety concern... but you know, your hugely unreasonable argument points against the use of drones (seriously, shot gunning a drone isn't a risk to anyone else from stray pellets, no?) just invalidates anything you had to say imo. Destruction of property just tells me you only think one way while accusing others of 1 dimensional thinking. Shoot first, ask questions later.

the problem with that is the fact that its not regulated, most of those manufacturers don't even have gps in their products, and it's business that dont even represent a a large portion of the hobby. And, I quote this from the article you linked "Of course if an individual operator wants to ignore a geofence and guide their drone into a no-fly zone, it can probably do that". I fly drones as a hobby, and I'm not opposed to specific no fly zones for people who wish for more privacy. Educate people on what? Don't you think people have a right to be annoyed when others are flying cameras above their house, not to mention the possibility of these things breaking down and falling or just being operated in a dangerous manner. Btw, if the government is siding with drone flyers on this there is a reason, and that is to normalize these kinda of things flying around houses so when they start doing it, for much more nefarious purposes, people will just go along with it because they are used to it. What are you going to think of it when the government drone intrusion starts, not that it hasn't already, but they're only long distance at the moment, at least what's obvious.

"I registered my house as a no fly zone". that's great and anyone can do it but no one will enforce it. especially if its your next door neighbor who is flying the drone. they share the same airspace as you so doing that limits them to their yard and if you destroy their property "because it came close to my house" then you have no legal choice but to pay for either a new one or to have the old one repaired.

These are the issues that drones are causing in suburbia. By rights, a person ought to respect his neighbor. If this annoys them, then take it out to a remote field or park to fly the darn thing. Antagonizing your neighbor with the loud noise that drones make is not how you get along with people.

To be very honest, I don't like having my peace disturbed by someone with the world's loudest wee whacker, lawnmower, or leaf blower. So why should I now content with a bunch of drones buzzing overhead? As a citizen, a neighbor, I should have my wishes respected. The guy should've flown the quad in a remote area where it didn't bother others. Period.

She is partially correct. There are private companies where you can register your property as a "no fly zone" and the software in some drones will honor that request. But it is not a legally binding registration and your house isn't a true no fly zone.

So the two of them have been feuding for years? So why didn't he bring the drone in from the opposite direction? Did he fly it in front of her house to intentionally upset the woman? Overflying my house and backyard with your drone is not a very civil thing to do. I put a fence around my backyard for privacy. I am not concerned with jets overlying at 30,000 feet or even the police helicopter moving across while on patrol. I do not want some nosy neighbor flying their drone spying on my family in our backyard. You might think it is great fun but I don't. Your taking photos in public miss the fact that I do have a reasonable expectation of privacy in a fenced backyard. It is no different then you hovering your quadcopter in front of my daughter's bedroom window. If nothing else show a little respect for your neighbors. Keep it up and you are likely to find that flying those toys are banned from use in residential areas.

@jimziemer4746 жыл бұрын
It's true not to fly over people, such as an open assembly of people. However, there is nothing about flying over backyards or houses. It is legal to fly over buildings, and even people if they are under a covered structure. The whole point is that if there is a malfunction you can land/crash without undue hazard to people on the ground. If people are in their homes, there is no danger of that.

Where I live he was trespassing on all his neighbors. You own below and above, including air space, when it comes to privacy against these drones. I'm glad I don't live in that state.
@mediamonitor9808 жыл бұрын
There is no state in the union that gives you ownership below the surface or the atmosphere above. Both are federally regulated by different agencies. There may be community bylaws or covenants concerning how high you can build or what you can build but legally speaking, the Feds own the airspace over your house - not you. There are laws however concerning the expectation of privacy. If someone is filming into your yard where you have the expectation of privacy they can be charged under those statutes. But prosecutors would have to prove intent - and that your yard is actually private and can't just be seen from the street.
@jbaker49008 жыл бұрын
Not true but okay. I know of a privately owned cave, toured by thousands. The owners above and below the surface. If you didn't own the property below you, the government would charge for well water. As far as air space. Concerning a drone owned by another flying over your property. They are trespassing in TN. I will shoot it down every time, if it hovering or making multiple pass overs. Manned aircraft are obviously permitted. Case law will soon follow the drone epidemic. I feel if your vantage point of my fenced yard changes. You have violated my expectation of privacy. Google and Bing do a great job of blurring embarrassing satellite imagery.
@mediamonitor9808 жыл бұрын
+J Baker I'm afraid you are wrong. I am well educated in media law and the statutes concerning privacy. In the United States and Canada your "private property" consists of "surface rights". The resources below and above your property are considered part of the commons. A legal term. You are granted certain rights below where it comes to access to water - but this whole concept of surface rights is the major, well publicized point of contention in law. This concept is at the heart of the disputes between landowners and resource companies. In the sky - it's much less complicated. You simply don't own it. While we're on the topic - I don't recommend shooting down a drone. There is an expanding body of case law now that has established you would be guilty not just of being an asshole endangering the public - but of criminal mischief.

Brown outs happen, blades break midair, batteries fail, esc fail, Rx/Tx failure. The list goes on. I am aware of these things because I've educated myself and experienced them first hand. cellblock776 This is a debate that clearly will not be settled in the court of public opinion. If you are close enough to someone elses property and their person that a 65 year old lady can hit and disable it with a driveway stone you are too close. The lady was not found criminally responsible. Her homeowners insurance caved and paid for his damages because it was cheaper for them than to fight it. These situations will only escalate until there is more legislation. The law has also changed since this incident. Recreational drones are not longer exempt from FAA registration and regulations. He is clearly in violation of current interpretations of what too close is.

You are correct. My perspective is that for several decades before quadcopters/drones there were thousands of R/C planes that flew in designated (safe) areas and caused very little problems. In my area on the Monterey Bay area there is a model plane airport along the river/farmland. It's been in operation for many years without incident. People fly their radio controlled planes/copters there and there is no accusation of spying on neighbors, no disturbing noise, little or no hazard to children or homeowners in case of malfunction.

Sadly, since the beginning of recorded history there have been some people telling other people what to do, how to do it, how to pray, how to speak, and sometimes even killing people who don't agree with them. On the other hand, I remember stopping at a local elementary school one weekend to watch people flying tethered model planes. This was before the prevalence of R/C planes. There was plenty of room, nice grass, people having fun and not too much noise for the residential area. Sometimes it takes just a few people to spoil things for responsible hobbyists who just want to enjoy their hobby without bothering anyone.

Nothing he was doing was harassing his neighbor. She went out of her way to be involved. She was in the backyard and he was minding his own business. If she had stayed and not went to the front hellbent on taking the drone down, nothing would have come even close to her.

Destruction of property that wasn't invasive or committing an invasion of privacy, wasn't up in her window or her face, and got hit because it had to land in the drive way next to her poor ass fence..... Anything else?

She wasn't really aiming for the drone. The drone hit was an accident. She was actually throwing a rock at the guy flying the drone.
@2KXMKR6 жыл бұрын
She's probably the type that spends most of her day standing in the corner of her window watching everyone go about their business and is so paranoid about the flying weed wacker spying on her that she had an episode and wanted to destroy it. Let's take in to account that for the entire 17 minute flight the drone owner and his family are all stood at the end of the drive way watching it. Instead of simply explaining that she doesn't like it or feel safe around it and asking politely not to fly it over or near her house and establishing a neighborly understanding, she decides instead to hide and waits for the chance to destroy someone else's expensive property. People like this are always insane and play innocent.

All those big children should Keep their spy toys away of from other people. It is dangerous and people don't want to be filmed in the privacy of their homes and yards.
@rayr14448 жыл бұрын
Your yard is not private from the air and you do not own nor control the airspace above it. These "big children" have a perfectly legal right to fly in that airspace. Either build a giant dome over your property, hide in your basement or leave the country if you don't like it. Hey, here is an idea. How about you try to get along with your neighbors once?Oh...I can imagine that nobody wants to film your hairy ass anyway, believe me!

Flying a drone adjacent to his neighbours property what did he expect!!? It's not smart or safe, nevermind the legality issues, to fly a drone in a built up area over property and near people! Common sense!! Fly safe.
@JodyBruchon6 жыл бұрын
It's actually quite safe; if the drone dropped out of the sky the worst that could happen is it hits someone in the head, but the chances of that are extremely low and even if it happened most drone bodies will break and dissipate some of the force if they slam into something as hard as a human skull. They're built light and are mostly hollow plastic shells. You'd suffer more damage if a 2-liter soda fell out of the sky instead.
