This is simply a random compilation of bird photos from several continents. NOT an exploration of a single person's experiences with a feeder. Bird feeders have always been popular - to attribute them to the pandemic is ridiculous. People have fed birds in suburban/urban settings for generations, and to claim it as "new" is misleading at best.
@lindyc.25522 жыл бұрын
I too love my birds great and small. I have been feeding them in my yard for over 20 years. One of these days I will set up a camera to get some close up shots... something I have wanted to do, but don't get around to doing. In fact I have declared my acre yard a designated wildlife refuge for any critter that comes my way. I love all the wildlife that I see in my yard, from deer, squirrels, possums, bunnies, turtles, even snakes and fascinating insects. But, one of my favorites is my blue jays. Every morning I go out in my yard and whistle for my jays. I have about 25 of them that hear me whistle and come flying in for roasted no salt peanuts in the shell. Alot of my birds love these no salt roasted peanuts...along with the squirrels. But, it is hilarious to watch a blue jay pick up two or three different peanuts, till they find the one they want, and take off with it. I swear that they weigh each one to find the best one.

I agree with the squirrel. Feeding birds and not squirrels is very selfish and discriminatory.
@StorieswithSquirrels2 жыл бұрын
@@joybeum7177 In the interest of fair representation though, I must disclose... when I'm hanging out with all my squirrel friends in the park, the ducks and geese and seagulls and pigeons and mockingbirds and blackbirds are frequently hanging out wondering why they're not getting peanuts too. Part of the problem is my budget. Feed one duck or goose and within minutes you're surrounded by a flock of hundreds.

Many years ago, I put out striped sunflower seeds to feed the squirrels and birds. You wouldn't believe the amount of wildlife I got in my yard. I even got some deer to come and visit. It became quite expensive for me so I had to give it up, but I loved to see the animals.
@cynthiakeller59542 жыл бұрын
I throw out kitchen scraps and leftovers. Got an ecosystem going out there! The possums, rodents, all sorts of birds, bugs, bees, snakes, even have deer out there nudging around the scraps. Whatever doesn't get eaten nourishes Mother Earth. Edit: The possums cannot carry rabies and their favorite snack are ticks! Just putting it out there.

Dear Lisa, I have a pileated woodpecker who frequents my feeder. He’s a pain to me and also to most of the other birds and likes to drill on my gutters from time to time.
