I've never listened to a band that brought me to places in my mind and painted such beautiful imagery as much as La Dispute do. such a wonderful song.

Most people want to meet their favorite bands, get an autograph, and go on with their lives. With these guys I just want to sit somewhere quiet and listen to the stories of this man's life and talk about the most abstract things. Purpose of life, death, memories and so on. That would make my life.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but I noticed that the video montage in the background is playing forward until 1:38 when the song starts to slow down. From then on the people are going backwards. Like it's rewinding. Considering the lyrics, I don't think that's just a coincidence. But that's just me. u.u

This song reminds me of my grandma that died a day after Christmas. She visited us once and she'd always sit alone and read in the office; the room we never go in. And this song describes just that; a memory of someone reading in an abandoned room that at one point witnessed so much light.

@edwardthomas34428 ай бұрын
Songs like this don't really make sense until you are older in all honesty. I can relate to this so much. Got married, bought a house but barely months into moving in, she wanted to divorce so the house we bought never got lived in. Boxes still not unpacked after moving in and likely never to be unpacked.

I don't know if you still need this, but here it is: Standard tunning. Basically A, G and F, only near to the ending there's a variation where C is played instead of F (in that part "between the ones that we made and the ones that we didn't make") I'm actually recording a cover of this song with Post-Black Metal instrumental lol
@HericlesHericles9 жыл бұрын
And in "when you leave here when you go from a home" you play A, F, E, A and G (i forgot to say that and i don't want to type all that comment again lol)

Great song, good album but I don't care for it as much as their others. Idk how to describe it. It's like too literal and not as abstract and deep as their other albums as a whole.
@SensesFail199610 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean man. But as all poetry, (and I feel that is what Jordan writes) their is always a deeper meaning.
@TukeMaster10 жыл бұрын
TheGodOFToastyBread Alvarado it is a lot of poetry yes, but i feel like a couple of these songs on the album are just kind of him remincing (sorry if i spelt that wrong). Giving the name "Rooms of the House" it just makes me feel like he kind of misses his old ways.
@joeqwerty110 жыл бұрын
Seth Kaprovich thats the feeling i got, also some of the songs are like he was just sitting there watching the news and was like "yeah that's depressing, I'll recite that in a song!" 35 and parts of HUDSONVILLE MI 1956 for example.
@TukeMaster10 жыл бұрын
Joseph Smith Agreed, honestly though i was really excited for this album thinking it was gonna be like "Wildlife". I was kind of disappointed honestly, its definitaly not as good as there other albums.
@waypointindelible10 жыл бұрын
I'd say this album isn't as dramatic, and it's probably not as gripping as some of their best, but I wouldn't say it's not deep. Aside from the songs about disaster on here, the others are interesting to me in that they deal with the things we often think of as being mundane, boring or pointless but which are in fact what make up the majority of our experiences. At first glance these do seem to be more pedestrian topics than those of other songs on older records, or as though they deal with less serious emotions, but I think that the care with which they're dealt and described really helps to bring out the idea that these everyday things are significant.
