Poor Jo. I have to agree she looked great either way. My partner is exactly the same. She gets so intensely focused on what I consider to be such a small issue that she lets it take over her headspace. I can completely understand Jo's relief and her husband's humorous but accurate words

Nope. Sebaceous cysts do not hurt unless they are inflamed. She cannot feel that cyst she sees it and her brain thinks is noticeable when nobody but her sees it.

@@pepsico815 it's not, otherwise dr Emma wouldn't be able to remove it. The sack came out perfectly, if it was inflamed, it would be impossible to distinguish between the sack and the keratin. The redness you saw was from the superficially positioned veins.

I thought that her nose was adorable at first, but a cyst being there was probably painful for her. The doctors extraction was amazing and the suturing too! Joe's nose looked very nice afterward without seeing the stitching! Excellent procedure! 👏

I actually thought that you have a cute nose and, I don't think it looks like an unusual shape because of the cyst. You are a beautiful lady and deserve to go out and about. My concern is similar to yours of it getting infected and you having to go through more issues. I do understand why you want it to be removed. I've had many surgeries over my 45 years and i have an iliostomy and my venous system is compromised and with all main veins clotted from needing to be fed that way. I grew back tiny veins all over the place and the ones on my neck and chest are clearly sticking up. I have learnt to not worry about it except it has made it very hard to get blood to my brain and with the loss of oxygen I have spontaneous, no warning collapses and I'm knocked out anywhere from 30 minutes to about 8 hours. I've lived 10 years longer than the two years my lifelong specialists gave me. I moved back home as it was dangerous medically for me to live alone. We all knew that I'd be the first to go but both my Mum and Dad have passed away in the last few years, Mum had cancer and my Dad unexpectedly died in his sleep. So I'm living alone again but I am a stromg person. Anyway that was a long way to say that I hear you and understand your decision. It was awesome seeing you out and about living your life freely. I wish you and your loved ones all the best. 😊

If your patient reads this, I just want to let her know that it really didn't look bad at all. But I know that it bothered you and you probably felt like everyone would stare at it, but in reality, it wasn't that noticeable. When I was a kid, I got in a motorcycle crash and scarred the heck out of my left knee. I was very self-conscious of it, but just like your nose, it really wasn't bad at all. It did affect my confidence and I'd try to hide it by not wearing short and such. I hope you're getting your confidence back!

I have a similar lighthouse on the tip of my nose. Oddly, it waxes and wanes. My dermatologist said she’d have to take quite a chunk out .. I might not be as pretty as I am😂 thanks Dr. Emma.. you are brilliant! Frank in Colorado

It couldnt have gone wrong? thats only superficial tissue layer surgery no cartilage was altered so no risk of very bad outcome.

There's definitely a phychiatric issue here which is probably much more serious than the cyst. By sheer chance, her cyst is entirely invisible because it blends in with her nose but she talks about it as if she had a lime green tennis ball stuck on her face.

The sebaceous cyst couldn’t have be more ‘front, & centre’ if it had tried, & yet she left it as was. She put herself through agony, when there was no need to do so………such a shame..

I have a very large nose that I've been teased about my whole life. I've never let it keep me in the house. It's never stopped me from doing what I want. I can't understand her mentality when her nose wasn't large or ugly. People have made me cry they were so cruel but I always dated and have been married nearly 40 years. I don't understand this level of vanity. It makes me feel angry that she's so superficial. I don't care that it's big for her. People go through so much in life and this is nothing.

Because cutting through the nasal cartilage from the interior would cause a lot of damage, be a higher infection risk and run the possibility of creating a hematoma that could cause the septum cartilage to die making her nose collapse.
