So wait a minute.. the police stop you for having a weapon to protect yourself? Yet another reason why I love living in the country I do (yes, we are not perfect, but at least we won't be stopped by the police for having a weapon to protect ourselves with) granted, it is possible these guys might have been up to no good, but until they actually break the law, it is not your place to dictate whether or not a person should be armed.

Absolutely. I can walk out carrying a knife, a gun, or a baseball bat and not get stopped and lectured to for wanting to protect myself. Being prepared is not wrong. Even in Australia there are those who will do harm to people.
