Yes, I agree, but time moves on and to be honest, there was a time when pitbull terriers were dodgy because of how they were treated by humans and how they were bred wrongly but humans, and now, with time and education, hopefully, that reputation is being turned around by good people. This dog may not have been abandoned but lost perhaps. People go camping, and so on, take the puppy, and the puppy gets lost and left behind. The small collar indicates to me that he was a lot smaller when he was separated from his previous owner. But it's all good now.

Took about 9 months to get him back to full health physically and emotionally..... he would shake and cower if he heard any dog fighting or major canine upset on TV or in reality. He was a great dog. Had him until he was approximately 10-11 years old. He died from cancer. I sat with my Bear as he passed. Pits are mostly great dogs. Hey, I’m here in Mass, too! Some 30 yrs ago, I found a stray at a gas station in NH. After I gave him some water and showed everyone there he was friendly, I entrusted him to their care and hit the road. A lifelong dog lover, my situation then wasn’t suited for keeping a pet, but to this day, I’ve always regretted that I didn’t just put him in my car and take him home. After that, I moved to SoCal where I adopted my own, fostered, failed, rescued, sometimes succeeded or not, often heartbreakingly so. Now back in Mass again, my own dogs passed away years ago, but I always keep leashes, towels, and water in my car just in case I ever see a stray. So thank you for taking this Alabama boy into your heart, no regrets. Polo has a whole family now of people and other pets, and he probably can’t believe his good luck! 💕🐾🐶

Without hesitation, she and her family took the dog temporarily, hoping his owner would come forward soon. The next days were great. Everyone loved the new guest and even the house cat quickly made friends with him. In an edit of her initial post, LaBar wrote: "I really do not want to take this sweetheart to a shelter... He's great with other dogs, big and small, Children, big and small, AMD MY CAT! He’s amazing! Truly wish I could keep him!" But on January 20, the pit bull suddenly went completely berserk and lunged at LaBar's six-year-old son. A distraught Victoria LaBar took to Facebook shortly after the accident, asking her friends and family for space. "We are grieving ... It does not even feel real that we will wake up tomorrow and our son won't be here."

He is beautiful and has become one happy dog. There is an ASPCA commercial that says " there is no shortage of cruelty out there." That is a heartbreaking truth. Good work. You are a kind and gracious human being.

I agree pitties are loving same as Staffordshire bull terriers it's not the dogs fault they have a bad name it's the owners who treat them bad mainly young lads here in uk

Thank you for keeping your promise to him he knew he was thrown away like trash even though he's not. So in his mind he was going to do whatever it took to fit into the family. Would read the situation and do whatever he had to do to fit in. He's a smart dog thank you for saving him. I think the best part was him and Grandpa on their little day. He is Grandpa wrapped around his paw.

There is so much we can learn from animals: the capacity to enjoy the present and forgive the past, the need to touch physically another being and transmit warmth and reasurrance. Thank you for saving Polo and for telling this beautiful story.
