@Aidan Fisher Silat (and Kali) used by a proficient practitioner is extremely efficient, and I have been involved in various martial arts for decades. The practitioner in this video is excellent. That I am sure of. By the way, most all martial arts schools in America are either run by flakes that know very little, or by Asian practitioners that will only teach the true, high level martial art to intelligent, native speaking youths, be they Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Filipino, etc., etc. That you can be assured of.

@Aidan Fisher The barely 4 minute video only represents a tiny example of silat techniques. There are many hundreds of silat techniques that may be combined into numerous others. The knife attack example is not something nobody would do. In defense or MA, never say never or nobody or everybody or always. It is not all that uncommon to see such a knife attack. Most such knife attacks are by inexperienced attackers. An experienced fighter would easily dispense with someone without using a weapon, especially for legal reasons.

"We use the drill to develop skill. When you fight, you don't use the drill; you use the skill." Too many armchair warriors expose their ignorance when they say a real attacker wouldn't attack you like in a drill.

@Aidan Fisher If you think that, you are simply a bad fighter lol. My condolences.

It's a Dull Training Knife. Alot of practice and drilling is required before moving onto "Live Blades".
