I would love to see an expert do a form analysis for Purrier. Her form never breaks down no matter the distance; even at the finish, her sprinter-strong gait pops with consistency and accuracy like pistons. It's incredible--I want to learn to run just like her, even knowing I will never be that fast.
@randyevermore93233 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that her form has changed a bit recently. She used to be a pronounced heel-striker even in spikes and even when sprinting (e.g., see video of her indoor mile AR). In this race she's landing more on the lateral mid-foot. I would think that would be an improvement, but who really knows?

She says she works a lot to make sure her hips are straight and symmetrical, in training and running, and that that has help her avoid stress fractures like many female athletes do. As a females hips natural angle, is more prone to injury than a males more straight one.

@@Tigerex966 "She says she works a lot to make sure her hips are straight and symmetrical" I think that's very smart. Hip asymmetry can cause a lot of problems further down the chain (voice of experience here, and I'm male).

How did Heather Maclean successfully protest in order to make it to the finals? Does anyone know what her argument was?
@andymschott3 жыл бұрын
Just from watching I think she would claim that the she was impeded on two times in the race. Once on the third lap when Johnson tripped, that pushed Maclean back a few steps. And at the very end she wasn't given enough room on the inside and tripped.

@@Tigerex966 Just to clarify, the controversy occurred in the semi-finals and after the appeal she was advanced to the final where she got 3rd place and gets to go to the Olympics. I agree, I don't think she was impeded. There was a lot of contact in all of the races. In fact McClean was the one who started the chain reaction bumping that knocked Purrier off the track in the 1st round !! The announcers were saying McClean is a close friend of Elle Purrier. I hate to think she had anything to do with advancing her. The whole thing stinks and I feel bad for Osika who was 4th and missed out.

Well I was watching the NCAA 800m, 1500 m, 5000, and steeple chase, and 10000m, and cross country championships, and it did not seem that way, I think it is training and genes and drive more than anything. Like the high attitude africans are superb in distance. And many americans and Europeans are pretty good at shorter distances. Caribbean's are superb in the short races. But "in general" you may be right. But not "in practice". As there are many exceptions to that rule. I don't know why she is so out their with her wigs, tattoos, lashes, and nails, I am guessing it is self promotion, or low self esteem. Many have said it is over the top and ridiculous, but if she likes it, more power to her (unless I should use another pronoun), she's famous, rich, and a champion.
