Brooke Darrah-Hage leads this performance of Adenkum Songs. Adenkum is the name of the gourd used for the percussion accompaniment to the songs. This is a women's musical tradition from Ghana. The first lament is a story of a man falsely accused of theft. The second is an admonition reminding children that they should listen more than they talk - especially to the adults in thie lives. The final song is a modern Ghanian song that makes fun of people who think they are fancier than they really are.
