One of the most powerful and inspiring talks I've heard. Brought me to tears, because the similarity of my situation of being undecided in my educational pursuits. I pray that these leaders continue to receive revelation, so to continue to inspire others.

This is such a wonderful talk. The teachings of the Church are inspired of Christ through the Holy Spirit.

Yeah, we’re supposed to support each other, but what about our kids? I’ve taken to heart being a mother first and foremost. That is the most important role. Why bring children into your lives if you’re more concerned about getting a degree? Someone help me out because I am really struggling with this concept.

Its not an either or situation. Each person needs to pray and seek guidance on their own path. Two righteous women will receive very different inspiration about what they should do in their lives. One may be impressed to go to medical school. The other may be impressed to start a family early and give up opportunities for higher education. Both decisions are correct because they were both lead by the Spirit. We shouldn't question inspiration other people receive, because that undermines that person and the spirit that is guiding them.

Beautifully said. My patriarchal blessing talks a lot about my education. Thankfully I was able to pursue this while giving birth and raising six children 😊 But later was told I needed to focus on nurturing them and God would provide. In my friend’s situation, she has always been eager to go to school but her journey is completely different and she is the best mother to her children. We all have different paths and we should always be willing to listen and follow the guidance of the Spirit! ❤

I struggled with the same. I interrupted my education to raise 7 children. Because of my desire, education was alwas a pursuit whether it got credit or not. I went back after children were raised, and because it had been so long, I had to redo credits. It was worth it. No time spent with family is wasted. Education is never wasted. Your time will come and you will know.

I love all of these comments. I believe the path of women is more complicated than the path of men. But God is ever willing to guide his women, and he will guide you as you need his guidance. Your holy role on earth is to raise your family, and to be there for your children, every step of the way. But in conjunction with that, he will lead you and guide you in gaining pursuits and education that will bless the rest of his children. Women sometimes limit their own scope of influence, but God never does. He knows your potential. He knows that you have a work to do and it is many faceted. For some it may be limited to the home, which is a great blessing to them and their family. But many others their influence will take them to places they never imagined. But all guided by revelation from our father in heaven. Always be waiting and ready for that revelation to come, because it will come.❤

Everyone's path is different but getting an education benefits your children as well. Some may be able to get it before marriage, others may be able to get it during marriage and child rearing , some may be able to get when the children are old enough. Whichever way is between you, your spouse, and God.
