Dude Sunita Choudhary in Delhi was in news for driving auto rickshaw since 2006. There was a news piece about some women in other cities too. I myself saw a female e-rickshaw driver in Dehradun like 8 years ago. It was not common but but those women pioneered before these women. Chennai group of course seems more systematic.

If only these women auto drivers are trained to COMMUNICATE FLUENTLY in ENGLISH, Tamil Nadu State TOURISM is sure to grow by leaps & bounds.....Not only this, more +2/degree completed unemployed women might jump into this bandwagon thereby solving their unemployment problem raising their own standard of living... Women auto drivers are more empathic towards commuters, especially elders & honest too..
