My name is Akshita Bose and I'm from India, and I'm doing Luxury Management and Guest Experience at Glion University, Switzerland.
I applied for the Dior Mentorship program in collaboration with UNESCO, this program is designed to empower women, and at the same time insert sustainability in luxury fashion.
I got this opportunity because of Glion, as only a few college students are allowed to apply for this program. There are 500 women already part of this program, which helps in networking and at the same time it's a very good opportunity.
This program is structured in four pillars, the first part is mentoring, which is very important. Each mentee has been appointed one mentor from Christian Dior and they help you with day-to-day guidance, help you in networking, and at the same time help you with developing your career.
The second pillar is an education program, this education program has six spots in it and those course modules will include sustainability, empowerment, self-care and autonomy. The main objective of this program is to empower women in management positions.
The third part is where there’ll be live conferences and we will be introduced to people who are already in a great manager position, women who are working.
The fourth part is dream for change , that's giving back to society. We try to consider ourselves lucky because we are selected, we are in a position to be taking part in such a program, but now it's time for us to give back to society. We will have to explore our creativity and develop independently a project which can leave an impact on society, something which can help in empowering women, something which can help in empowering our environment.
Definitely Dior is the dream for everybody who is studying with me in luxury management, and I like to believe I have a foot-in now, and it's going to help me find a job, maybe in the same sector or in a similar industry. I would love to work in a company that is so aware and that is actively participating in social development.
This kind of experience can be invaluable for everybody.
