Eric saw the footage of Verity on his laptop and planned in advance. He knew that she was coming and he may end up in jail so he hid his own laptop so she couldn't use it as evidence. Now that he sees his own sister as one of "them" and wanting to take him down he's going to do what we saw in the trailer and that's nail her in the head with the laptop and drop the bookcase on her. Whether that kills her or not I don't know but I'm hoping not.
