Tbh this kind of disappoints me. I'm not Vegan, but do have Vegan replacements for dairy and sweets. The portions looked way too small for someone not consuming meat. It seems like the company behind this didn't understand that plant based protein sources are available, tofu has a high quantity of protein. Legumes have high protein. It just seemed like they were eating empty calories and wondering why they weren't full. Also don't know why they're so concerned over their weight in lbs. when it's your body fat % that makes the most difference.

Protein may be found in plant foods but they generally differ from protein found in animal meat. Humans need complete chains of amino acids (for protein synthesis) which meat provides, plants however provide in-complete chains and require you to eat a variety of sources to build up the complete chain. The only plant that provides complete chain protein are soy products. That's why vegans/vegetarians have to eat in much larger quantities.

@FashionandLoveBeauty7 жыл бұрын
The thing with carbs is that simple carbs (and overall carbs) have a higher glycemic index than most food and some of them (not fruits) have more calories per 100g. The high glycemic index leads to a crash in blood sugar which (accompanied with not eating the right foods when you eat carbs or not eating the right carbs) can make you feel hungrier (we have several "fullness" sensors: in our stomachs and intestines mostly but blood sugar is also an indicator for your brain). The thing with the fatness is relative. You gain weight by having more calories than the ones you spend. If your basal level is 1500 and you're not doing any exercise and you eat 2000 calories a day, you'll have an excess of +500 calories. A pound (of fat) is any where between 2,843 and 3,752 calories (the "accepted" value is of 3500 but it is easily refutable) so, in theory (which applies to most practical cases), if, during a weak you have that excess of +500 (taking in consideration that a week has 7 days), you'll end up consuming in that week an extra 3500 (which is in the range of how many cals is a pound. Anywho, to make this short (I think I've passed that now), it is easier to gain a pound by eating more carbs when your body is not used to it than it is to gain by eating protein (any kind of protein - animal or vegetable and veg protein actually has less cals). I cannot eat a HCLF because my body absorbs carbs very well and excessively, which means that I would gain weight faster, for example. I would also like to know what they had for breakfast... And also: Beyoncé has a chef, who are we all kidding?

it can, depending on other factors. If you have a good ratio of carbs to protein and you're working out, then you can eat a lot of carbs. But eating a lot of carbs, not a lot of protein, and being sedentary leads to fat retention particularly around the waist and midsection.

I eat 90% vegan (only small snacks sometimes non-vegan) and I don't think this diet would have made me very happy. Firstly, it's not a lot of meals, I like to eat more small meals during the day instead of a few big meals. And secondly, it seems a little bland. Not in taste, but it's all kind of the same food. I get why; there's only so much you can do when you need something that stays sort of fresh for an entire week, but I wouldn't like to eat like this. It might be interesting though, if you're planning on going vegan and you need some inspo and easy meals.

How does she know she gained a pound? Your weight can fluctuate by more than a pound day to day. It is probably just her body adjusting to the new foods. Also, they kept stating they were hungry, but are these meals meant to be the only meals in a day? I eat small portions like this, but have a couple of healthy snacks throughout the day.
@santyvalens7 жыл бұрын
Sarah can you explain the weight fluctuation thing please?
@hemidex7 жыл бұрын
If you google weight fluctuations you can read more about it. There are lots of factors that can contribute to weight fluctuations, such as retaining water. Since she drastically changed her diet it isn't unusual that her weight would change while her body is adjusting to the new diet.

I don't understand how these people are so terrified of carbs and fats from plants. You eat meat for god's sake. You couldn't be getting more cholesterol and unhealthy fats unless you downed a carton of (dairy) ice cream, which I bet non of these women have been so squeamish about. Chicken may be the exception given it is fairly lean, despite this chicken can still carry a ton of hormones and most people douse it in fatty or salty sauces. A plant based diet is the most clean and high-protein diet you can follow if done correctly. Half these women are self-proclaimed "fitness gurus" but don't understand basic macronutrients.

Vegan here and portions did look small. I would be able to manage with a big bowl of outmeal amd fruits for breakfast and snacking on whole vegetables and fruits in between meals or maybe incorporating some veggies as a side to my meals. that would help with maintaining or losing weight. On a 50/50 starch and veggie diet your body will naturally shape and either gain or lose weight as needed. Other then that the dishes looked pretty similar to foods I prepare for my self. If anybody wants to do some research on a healthy vegan diet (because even as a vegan you can eat unhealty) check out some youtubers that are great at it. @Sterling_Qrow7 жыл бұрын
no......they don't. That's why metabolism levels are a thing. That's why diabetics exist. People break down things differently, it varies from person to person. Not every body breaks down fat and carbs the same way

Carbs are good for you in moderation! They help facilitate all kinds of functions in the body in terms of hormones and more. That said, this diet would be weird not knowing how much sugar (the real issue) or sodium is in each dish unless they provide a nutritional breakdown.

Dr. Campbell author of The China Study proved in his 30 year long studies, that animal protein is horrible for your body, and that an 80-10-10 whole food, plant based diet is what our body thrives on. 80-10-10 mean 80% of calories from carbohydrates, 10% from fat, and 10% for protein. Reading that book honestly changed my life. And if you are willing to learn about veganism or just health and nutrition, I would recommend for ANYBODY to read the book. If you read all of this I hope you have a day you deserve! 💕☮️

Ugh. Buzzfeed. You need to give them a lot larger portions. As a rule, vegans technically eat more than non-vegans. You should have looked up a proper vegan starter guide online or taken a look at the vlogs vegans do.

but the video was about the vegan meal plan that Beyonce endorsed, not an average vegan meal plan. They only ate what the plan gave them, which was the point of the video. I'm sure they would have eaten more if the plan allowed it

Agatha jay what does the the fact that we are animals have to do with it? not all animals eat other animals
@jess-em6cy7 жыл бұрын
Agatha jay actually, if you look at us and compare us to other animals, we share more characteristics with a "vegetarian" animal, or herbivore than other omnivores. I mean take a look at the animals closest to us the apes. Their diets consist of mostly fruit. They do however eat small animals like insects so you may have a point. But overall the human most likely isn't meant to have steak and hamburgers all the time. I also believe that's it's different eating meat now than is was when our ancestors did. They didn't have slaughter houses and animals being feed hormones and antibiotics.

Someone please educate these people on the fact that eating a lot of plant-based carbs is waaaaay better than stuffing your face with ridiculous amounts of animal protein. This is full on idiocracy. You gained weight because you are not used to eating this way, but if you eat a plant-based diet rich with carbs for a longer time, you'll actually find out that you'll be able to stay fit much easier.
@CiarlaArt7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say any of them are 'Stuffing their faces with ridiculous amounts of animal protein', you think a meat eater, eats 1 whole cow a day or something? They even stated the kind of meals they normally eat. These woman simply are not aware how Carbs actually work or Vegan meals because they are not actual vegans, they are likely going off things they have heard.
@kgd037 жыл бұрын
Clearly you have taken my phrase a little bit too literally, which is fine, by "stuffing their faces with ridiculous amounts of animal protein" I meant that the majority of their diet consists of animal protein, which they actually stated during the video.

@maddiewantstodie39527 жыл бұрын
I'd just like to say something *clears throat* The fact that some of these women seem to like to not take in a lot of carbohydrates scares me. In reality, your body runs on carbohydrates. If you don't eat enough carbs, your body will eventually turn the proteins and fatty acids in your body into fat and digest the fat. That might sound good, but it's just the opposite. You will eventually GAIN more weight than lose with a high protein low carbohydrate diet. *shuffles away*

So obviously they too believe the myths of plant based food. I think the portions were small and should be larger, but that's the only qualms I had about the food. Now, to the nutrition: carbs don't make you fat, that one person gained water weight probably, not fat, plant based diets are full of protein, those packages just didn't give you enough food. The protein obsession right now is really funny actually, considering everything has it. Overall I'm excited about the exposure though and look forward to people having a better understanding of nutrition this year.

Yet another media source that makes veganism look difficult and unattainable. You have to swap foods out(very easy- there are so many premade vegan and vegetarian food, available in stores) It's much easier to stay at the same weight. The trick is to eat complex carbs, instead of simple sugar. Stick to rice, grains, beans, veggies, and fruit. The girl who thought she gained a pound is probably just experiencing a little water weight- it leaves quickly. Also, the human body can digest plant material so much better, which gives a skinnier appearance, especially in the stomach area.
