That’s partially because someone already successful can dress like trash and still be treated well whereas someone still climbing the ladder needs to give a good impression to others.

This is so true. I always see middle class women obsess over "designer" brands. I mean millionaires and billionaires wear designer brands but nothing the regular people can ever afford.

@@wint3rl0v I find In that scenario its mostly in a professional/corporate enviroment, and is legitimately* for keeping up appearances. i used to care about how i looked like a lot and as i have gotten older i know now that its mostly in what i feel comfortable in and to be honest if im comfortable my mood changes to really good... i used to wear heels and even though i looked good at the end of the day i was exhausted and my feet hurt and throughout the day i felt so uncomfortable even getting up to go scan something, i have learned to no longer care about what others think and to buy clothes only as i need it and when all the others have worn out.

True I find that clothes are worth almost nothing once someone wants to sell them or give them away. all that matters is how they look on you. if you look good altogether literally no one will know like 80 percent of my clothing is thrifted dirt cheap and the clothes themselves are probably over a decade old. Most people only pay attention to youth, health, hygiene and beauty anyway which have nothing to do with what you wear most of the time. the models they use to try to sell you clothing are beautiful on their own it has nothing to do with the object they are advertising.

Every month all stores online and retail have a clearance sale and half off sale at least one a month! The trick is to shop the sales, the hoilday and the seasonal sales and you will have a good deal.

When I was in 5th grade my chorus teacher randomly asked us to raise our hands if we went shopping in the past month. I did, and surprisingly I was basically the only one to raise my hand. She looked at me and said, "See, you need to be grateful because other people's lives aren't like that." I didn't, but I wanted to scream at her. That was my one shop a year, at a thrift shop😐 My mom works poverty level, got laid off in march due to Covid, and still hasn't found another job. I don't have it horrible, but I know theres other people in my class that have it a lot better and there the ones who should be grateful. My one friend takes a vacation every year!

Many teachers are like that. I've been blamed of being an animal-abuser, because some crazy kid in our classroom drowned one of the gerbils. It wasn't me, but someone said it was 'something I probably did' and that was enough evidence to forbid me to come near the gerbils without supervision. I still remember the gerbil floating in the bucket, where normally you'd put the sponge for the schoolboard. The teacher seriously left it there for the rest of the classroom, I kept on staring at it. I can't believe anyone thought I could've done it. I was the skipping girl with ADHD that drew horses, stuck in an "ADHD and other problems"-classroom with psychopaths, many of which have ended up in a mental institution after their schooltime. Teachers are stupid, most of the time. I hope that things get better for you soon. And I hope you'll find a nice clothes-giveaway somewhere, they have them in my city, just a 'donate and/or take with you'-place where you trade your stuff or just take donated items. Good luck!
