For an army which was in a constant state of war since its founding in 1948, the IDF was well-known throughout the World as having female soldiers fighting in the front line. I heard somewhere that it would take 5 to 6 soldiers to support 1 soldier who is actually fighting. For Israel which doesnt have a large population, having many female soldiers makes sense. These female soldiers can provide support roles; and they need to be ready to use that Uzi in case the rear areas are under attack.
Israeli women are so wonderful. Thank you for your sacrifice babes!

My best result was achieveing over 3 km /exactly 3,250 m of Cooper's running test, then I got a golden medal of that. ;-D Nowadays I just travelled (just walked it all the way, not running) about 12,5 km under 3 hours. It's sickening to seem some of the hate in the comments sections of videos such as these. These are beautiful, educated young women willing to risk their lives and futures to protect their country. I wonder how many of the Haters on these boards have ever faced an enemy in combat. Probably not many, if any. Most of these girls have lost much of their family due to hatred of Jews. How many aunts, uncles and cousins do NOT EXIST for them due to sheer hatred?

@fethidz1 I live in the area where the Trail of Tears had begun. It was a brutal and unforgiving time for the Natives. In fact, most Americans today despise that legacy, commissioning the construction of museums and the preservation of artifacts to show respect for what the Natives had wrongfully faced. There is a large Indian reservation that still belongs to various Native tribes. Many Americans even aspire to live there with the Natives. That era was unjust and many Americans see that.

What an awesome group of women who want to serve their country. I'm sure they make their families proud. Say what you want to say about women belonging in combat, these women are putting their butts on the line. I can't imagine how women here in the US would react to being subjected to compulsory military service. I think we'd see alot whining and dessertion.

@GidonRicardo Thanks for bringing that up. If you recall in the story of Moses, that land was not originally settled by the Hebrews, but Canaanites. The story of Moses is thought to have been written long after they'd settled there, as there are no historical references or evidence showing that such conquering of the Canaanites had occurred and much evidence contradicts the story. For instance, the walls of Jericho could not have fallen because it had not built its famous walls yet.

"O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. Come, they say, let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more. 'Now what have you against me, O Tyre and Sidon and all you regions of Philistia? Are you repaying me for something I have done? If you are paying me back, I will swiftly and speedily return on your own heads what you have done.'"

@fethidz1 Thank you - I've had a relatively good day today and your comment has made it better. You know, I have met many people whom I have respected who, perhaps unbeknown to them, taught me how to think this way. So, I've known others who are probably more impartial than I am. I am young and still have my own one-sided opinions, at times, probably due to lack of experiences. Again, thank you, fethidz - I enjoy reading your comments, as well.

@odokokan Excuse me for that information - what I was citing was mixed up with the recent aid ship. Let me correct myself a second time: between Dec 2008 and Jan 2009, there was a 20-day attack launched by the IDF. Israel bombarded UNWRA with bombshells that contained concentrations of white phosphorous above the legal limit. The Israeli military denied putting that chemical in their shells; however, it was found that many people had suffered the effects of it whom were bombarded.

@odokokan Also. I'm failing to see where you are getting your information on the Helsinki Treaty, also known as the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks, which was a series of discussions held between the US and Soviets beginning in 1970, the last negotiation occurring in 1993. They were centered around reductions of nuclear armaments in those two countries. Perhaps you can explain how Israel somehow became a part of those talks, but I am quite sure that the US and USSR were the only ones involved.

@fethidz1 when i served in lebanon(protecting the chritsians from being massacred by the muslims)in 1999-2000 it was clear that we are fighting against the iranians, while the lebanese were simply too terified of them to do anything. i have a great respect to the iranian army, and its use of anti-tank missles and morters against tanks ,and i think that it did very well its war against us in 2006,its too bad it had to sacrifice all of lebanon for that.

The first inhabitants of Lebanon were the Canaanites , during the time around 3000 B.C. They were the earliest and original inhabitants of Lebanon. This civilization gave way to eventual Assyrian rule. The Assyrian civilization commanded Lebanon for one and a half century with tyranny. The Babylonians ruled for a much longer time, The empire crumbled with the advent of Alexander the Great. The rule of the Arabs changed the face of Lebanon, and had many lasting impacts on its future.

@odokokan I understand that the Torah teaches "an eye for an eye," but I recall a very good quote: "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind." This has been true in the past and is true today. Living for revenge is not a way to improve the lives of your children or grandchildren. Just as the U.S. needs to do, people, in my opinion, should be focused on making sacrifices for the future, so that our children will not have to try so hard to live, but still sacrifice for their children.

@odokokan Sudan, though, they are also on a different continent than Saudi Arabia. I don't know what they consider themselves, but probably have lots of intermixing with Egypt and Ethiopia (because Ethiopia used to be prosperous). About the Phoenicians, no - not all descendants of any country are entirely Phoenician, as people around the Fertile Crescent have been intermixed through trade and war too much, so many have Semitic, European, and Persian influences in their genes, as well as others.

@fethidz1 Exactly. A son should not cause his parents to suffer when he becomes a man for any suffering they had inflicted on him; nor should he cause his family and neighbors to suffer for his past. It's a shame that my own people have committed such heinous atrocities. It's also a shame to read about some of the founders of my country. Some, like Benjamin Franklin, were upstanding, moral men; but others, like Thomas Jefferson, held very prejudiced and frightening beliefs.

@odokokan Also understand that the Ottoman Empire had much more religious tolerance than most states would allow during that time. That was, in fact, generous that the Jews were allowed to live and worship there. On another note, the Muslim-Jewish conflict only really began getting hot once the Ottoman Empire began to decline, which says that the religious hatred was inspired my poverty more than religion itself. People interpret their religion's teachings to fit their socioeconomic status.

Having been to your (strange yet incredible) country on three occasion in the past 12 years I can vouch for the fact that most of India is NOT like Mumbai in much the same way that most of China is NOT like Shanghai. That's not to say things will change - but YES at the moment there is vast amounts of poverty in India - in fact the figure is the India has more poor people that the entire continent of Africa combined.Clearly that will change as India is heading ever upwards.

@revol148 You are right. With a professional army I only mean that the soldiers go in the army as volunteers and not as conscripts. That does not say that they are good soldiers. But with conscripts it was even worse. the Dutch government sent the army with very poor equipment and weapons to Bosnia. They could do nothing. And the French refused air support. A total drama indeed

@odokokan I think that was a very interesting piece of information fethidz gave. I think another relevant question is where the borders of Lebanon have stretched and retracted to over time and where they were at the time Jesus was being raised as a child. He was born in Bethlehem and, according to the Bible, raised in Nazereth. Was the area of Nazereth ever a part of Lebanon? It doesn't seem unlikely, as it is located near the Israeli-Lebanese border.

@alvinaalvina In reading the English translation of Song of Songs 5:16 it finishes the description by saying: "He is altogether lovely" but what most people don't know is that the name of that man was given in the original megilot. Here is the name written in ancient Hebrew as it appears in verse sixteen: מחמד . It is read as : "Mahammad". According to Ben Yehuda's Hebrew-English Dictionary, it is correctly pronounced as "Mahammad".

@Aserox I also agree. I personally feel that the U.S. needs to focus on domestic matters, as our economy over here is falling into ruin, as we are forsaking the educational system, a major reason why our nation is falling behind. Also, we have much too many starving lawyers and not enough engineers, and one of those occupations brings money into the country, while the other mostly gets money from inside the country. This is contradictory to most modern successful nations.

@thepunishervshulk Fair point. In any case I am not really in a position to judge the overall fitness of the girls here or their battle readiness as this and similar videos give very little away with regards to the training of reservists in the Israeli army.My guess is they would be used only as a final line of defence if the regular army was all but destroyed. The fact that one of the girls here said she wouldn't want to be a fighter in a combat zone would suggest that the training is limited.

@GidonRicardo I see your point; however, I also disagree with even most of my own nation's wars. People are failing to see that it is not one side that is right and the other wrong in most these situations, but that both sides are usually wrong. Vietnam war used napalm on civilians tor preserve our "democracy," but I've heard nothing of the Vietnamese plotting to end America in recent news. Even if they are, there's no justification for the children whose blood is on our hands.
