The Women's 400m Hurdles got underway at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field at 14:24 (local time). The temperature range that day was between 13°C - 26°C (55°F - 78°F). The City of Eugene is located at an altitude of 131 meters (430 feet) above sea level.
The event featured a strong line up of nine athletes, seven of them Tokyo Olympians: former University of Kentucky Wildcat Leah Nugent (Jamaica), and her compatriot Ronda Whyte, one Olympic Semifinalist: former Florida State University Seminole Sage Watson (Canada), the remaining four were Olympic Finalists: Janieve Russell (Jamaica), Anna Ryzhykova (Ukraine), former University of Washington Husky Gianna Woodruff (Panama), the Olympic Silver Medalist Dalilah Muhammad (USA).
The Remaining Athletes did not participate in the Tokyo Olympics, their World Ranking in the Women's 400m Hurdles is the following:
Currently Ranked Number 4 by World Athletics: former Texas A&M Aggie Shamier Little (USA).
Currently Ranked Number 9 by World Athletics: former University of Arizona Wildcat Cara Nnenya Hailey (USA).
The Highly Decorated Dalilah Muhammad (USA) distanced the competition finishing in a time of 52.77s, ONE Second ahead of second-place finisher Shamier Little (USA), and good enough for a Meet Record. Her winning time represents an increase in time of 2.31% with respect to her Personal Best of 51.58s, her Olympic Silver Medal-Winning time in Tokyo.
