Raevyn beasted that leg. However, what people don't realize is this was the race that set Kendall Ellis up for arguably one of the greatest comebacks in NCAA track and field history. The very next year, her senior year, she made up a 50+ meter lead in the last leg against Purdue and won the team title. USC had to win to do it, just like Oregon. Both teams snatched the title from Georgia in back to back years. There's nothing like the 4x4 and the amazing people who run it!!
@thomasmckenzie45844 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking that. Kendall Ellis anchored in two of the greatest 4x4's in NCAA history. Her split in this one was actually faster than her comeback against Purdue.

You're right. It's absolutely INSPIRING that Kendall took second in 2017 (by a hair) and kicked A** in 2018 in the final leg to help the trojans win the national championship.
@adegbenroagoro51802 жыл бұрын
I just saw that race and came back to watch this because of the comments made about what Rogers had done the year before. Now I understand even more how Kendall Ellis gave her all one year later after coming second in this race

That crowd tho! If only the announcer was as hype as British ones tend to be

I was there. I’ve been to many meets at Hayward Field, they’re always exciting there, but this race ranks at the top of bests for me. And not just me. On the way out of the stadium I bumped into Dana Altman, the UO Mens basketball coach, and he looked to me like he too had never seen anything so exciting. Folks, whether or not you’re a fan, get yourself to a track and field meet at Hayward Field. You’ll never forget it.

That's why Ravryn Rogers has her picture up in a large mural at the New Hayward Field. This national championship basically came down to her final leg in this relay.
@timmytheinventor47463 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, both of them competed for Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics. Ellis in the mixed 4x400m relay, which she won bronze, and Rogers in the 800m, which she also won bronze.
@maninthemiddle556 ай бұрын
Yup, I saw this race at Hayward Field. I also saw Raevyn at the airport on her way to Tokyo and told her how that race and, especially, her finish was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever seen live. She looked nearly as happy to hear that as she looked after this race.

100m to go in 3rd leg, Oregon runner cuts in front of USC runner. She is not 1 stride ahead and the move makes the USC runner stumble. That was the only foul I saw between USC and Oregon
