Every age group swimmer in the world should watch this specifically for her finish, she perfectly timed it without needing to take an extra stroke, rotating and extending to reach as far as possible. It’s out of a textbook

The guy they had as commentator along side Livingston on the Olympic coverage was hopeless, before the 400 final he said Titmus had no chance at gold because her heat swim was 5 seconds over her pb. It’s a heat swim it’s not meant to be fast just enough to get you in the final I was convinced he’d never watched swimming before this olympics

@@XDF745 Yes I knew Emma mckeon created OR in heats and semifinals consecutively and become favorite for final but you can't be sure in final just look at Abbey weitzeil(USA) she finished in 24.19 seconds in semifinals but in finals She finished in 24.41 seconds But Yes emma mckeon lived up to the expectations as Caeleb dressal in this same men's event.

Eh, if a swimmer doesn’t get excited and follows their race plan properly it’s usually pretty easy to decide who’s going to win. It’s when they panic or some freak breakout swim occurs that it becomes unpredictable.

It’s tough in its own way, more so mentally. But 400 IM is the pinnacle of toughness in swimming. You can’t have a weak stroke and you have to be in basically the best shape possible

❤yep, back again to watch it again and all i have to say is: insane. simply insane. do people actually have any idea whatsoever how insane these speeds and times are? its absurd :) i say this after swimming in the pool today (25yd) and burning out at trying to pace with a champ sprinter who was not sprinting but doing multitudes of practice laps and i was curious what her 'casual' looking pace was. oh, and i have been 'training' hard for this too :)
