Seeing it from start to finish, honestly incredible, these lionesses are absolute Legends, no international tournament won either men or women since 1966 and they played like that in the history books forever. Great to see, I can't imagine what it would have felt like to have been there. I can see a movie in the making, or at least someone should do one, well deserved and feel so so proud. To me this hits differently from watching men's football, the enjoyment for the game (as such) was the same but the real impact is the reach of the achievement for so many who wished well but thought this would never happen... (and many wished not so well...), not just because of the trophy but in the way the team performed when chips were down. So many moments, Stanway vs Spain, Mead's footwork, Toone chip vs Sweden, Russo backheel. Kelly in the final. Touch of class, inspiration, consistent effort and team spirit.

I remember watching the final with my dad and when that final whistle blew it was a mix of celebrations and bittersweetness... Only because I remember wishing my stepmum had been alive to see us win. She passed away in February of this year, and she loved football. She was 10 when the England men last won the World Cup - back then, girls weren't allowed to play, and women were BANNED by the FA - only because they were successful at it. And I just remember that night, going to bed and shedding a tear - because I knew she would've been celebrating so hard if she watched it with us in person 💜

Sitting here on a cold September night and remembering... I was going to say that it was the best thing about last summer, but for me it was the best thing about the whole year.
